Mahomes you are a great QB. There's no question about that. But your streak ends in Charm City! I am sure there is no better offensive mind than Andy Reid playing in the postseason. I don't care. Baltimore can do it all, run, pass, play special teams, and No wide right from Justin Tucker! And that defense is the best in the league.

The more I think about it, I’m kinda leaning in your direction. Looking back, Baltimore not only beat, but crushed some good teams: SF, Detroit, Miami, Houston… Texans never even got inside the Baltimore 30 yard line the entire game and their only TD was on a punt return.

If Baltimore makes it past KC, I’d pick them over either Detroit or SF.

... I certainly admire your misguided confidence. 😉 Honestly it's hard to disagree with anything you said. But when the season is on the line, there is nobody getting the snap I want more than Mahomes. While football truly is the ultimate team game, I think there are a select few like MJ and Tiger with superior physical skills but can also just will their teams to win. I put Mahomes in that category. So even though my head also says Ravens, the qb in me just can't bet against Mahomes.

We are on page 188 and I like that.

I too will be taking Baltimore this Sunday. I have hit a good many Picks this season taking the Ravens at home. That is a very tough stadium to go into and come away with a win by the visiting team. LaMar wears #8. I very much like the color purple. The Ravens will be up to the tough task of somewhat quieting the "supremely talented " Mahomes and Andy Reid lead KC Chiefs. Baltimore is the healthiest team in the Playoffs. Justin Tucker is the best kicker in the league. The total is tough call. I think Vegas has it set just right at 44 1/2. 6 TD's is 42. Both of these defenses are solid. I don't see the six touchdowns and a field goal needed to hit the Over happening in this one so I will take the Under.
It is a gutsy play to go against Patrick Mahomes in the Playoffs, but I am all about the Ravens rolling at home this Sunday. ⚡

I have yet to decide on my Pick in the Detroit/ San Fran game. I am waiting to see if #19 for the 49'rs will be playing or not.

Yes I think it’s obvious you need a stud QB to get you to the dance, but you need a stout defense and a decent running game to get you over the top.
Look at Brady, always buoyed by a good running game in New England and Tampa.
James White literally won it on his own same with Leonard Fournette.
The Patriots also had a slew of great defenses.
Even teams like the Rams, Bucs, recently were probably the best defenses the year they won it all.
Ravens defense is the best in the league by a larger margin than I thought.
Only S Fran and KC come close. The Ravens also have a multi back running attack with a running QB that is also a polished passer now.
Rivera tried the defense first route in Washington but it backfired on him

They completely ignored the offense which wreaked havoc on the whole team dynamic because he ignored the offensive line while signing washed up QB’s like Wentz and Fitzmagic and then drafted Haskins, Snyder’s pick, may he rest in peace.

... Fixed it for you. And you can file this under "Personal Problems" as I just don't like running QB's in the NFL. LJ will probably be the MVP and justifiably so and I clearly don't have a leg to stand on. But I think a running QB always puts himself in harms way and getting injured hurts the team. NFL defenders are so much faster, stronger and aggressive than college and it only takes one hit to be out of the game. How LJ has avoided that by and large is a testament to his athletic ability to slip and avoid violent collisions. I also want my QB with running ability to break the pocket and still be looking to throw until they cross the line.

... Easy to see why I did not care for Fields as he might be an even better runner than LJ but nowhere near accomplished in the passing game as LJ. Or Zack Wilson. 🙄

Touch may add some kinda Super Duper Bowl Triple Track Bonus worth 100 points for a score that ends with the same second number kinda lucky nothing to do with predicting skill sorta thing. But you lose 50 points on next years score starting the season with -50 points.

You’re close it’s a quadruple play for 1,000,000 points and if you miss your pick, you will have to watch Justin Fields with the Bears for the next decade winning only 30% of the games, plus you lose 10 points! 😂😂

Playoffs Contest

Please make sure you understand the format and the point system. Please also bookmark this post so you have it handy all Playoffs long to refer to when you have to submit your total points for the week.

How it works.

Each player gets two Double It Please (DIP) plays to start. DIP's are totally optional. They can be used only during the first two weeks of the Playoffs. That is the Wild Card Weekend and the Divisional round weekend. You can use your DIP plays once each week during the first two weeks. Again this play is optional.

Week 1 - Wildcard Weekend

Pick either a side or an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed.

Each winning pick is worth 20 points.

A loss is 0 points.

A Push is worth 5 points.

If you DIP'd a play and it hits you win 40 points. If you lose your DIP play it is -20 points, and again if you Push it is worth 5 points

Week 2 - Divisional Round

Pick a side AND an O/U in all the games. A DIP Play is allowed.

Each winning pick is worth 15 points. A loss is 0 points. A push is 5.

If you hit a DIP it is 30 points won. If you lose it's -15 points. A push is 5.

* The Double It Play (always optional) at this point in the contest is now over. There is no DIP play involved during the final two weeks.

Week 3 - Conference Championship Games

Pick a side AND an O/U in both games.

A winning Pick is worth 10 points

0 for a losing Pick.

A Push is worth 5 Points

Week 4 - Super Bowl

Pick both the side and an O/U in the game.

Each winning Pick is worth 25 points.

0 points for a losing Pick, and 5 for a Push.

Submit a Total Points Scored in the game in the case we need a tiebreaker.

... Acne? Covid? 😉 I know we disagree on this which is cool and I admit he has off the charts physical talent. Best running QB in the game, big arm and if his first read is wide open he can look very good. Not to sound like a broken record but 3 years into the NFL and he still can't read pre read or post snap read defenses, holds the ball way too long and can't find open WR's from the pocket. These are the fundamental requirements of playing QB well in the NFL. Pretty good video on Fields deficiencies:

... Since there is no money on this game, I just can't in good conscience bet against Mahomes. 🫣 I agree the Ravens are the better team, but Mahomes is magical and especially so in the playoffs. I can live with picking the Chiefs and losing but I can't live with picking the Ravens and losing if Mahomes beats them in an upset. I normally dislike giving a QB credit for wins and losses as it is a team game, but Mahomes is one of the few that can transcend team.

How can you not pull for the Lions?

Until this year the last playoff win was over 30 years ago.

GM Pushed Shift Time Back to Let Workers Watch NFC Championship Game

The Detroit Lions have never played in a Super Bowl, but the team’s appearance in this Sunday’s NFC Championship game may pave the way for its first Big Game. The whole city is understandably excited, and to help its employees enjoy the game, General Motors is delaying a shift at its Flint Assembly Plant.

Some employees at the plant took to social media to celebrate the decision. One shared GM's internal memo to workers, notifying them of the change. “We recognize the Detroit Lions playing in the NFC Championship game as a rare, unique opportunity that warrants this temporary schedule adjustment to allow employees to enjoy the game and make it to work on time.”

GM’s Flint facility is the only one with a third Sunday shift. The plant builds Chevrolet and GMC heavy-duty trucks, and many of the location’s almost 5,000 employees have been in the game day spirit all week, wearing blue and silver to work.

This is a rare move from the automaker. One employee responded to a post on Reddit to say that they’d never seen a delay or shutdown in 13+ years, even for two feet of snow. Unfortunately for local fans, the NFC Championship game is away in San Francisco, but they’ll at least be able to enjoy the show before heading in to build trucks on the graveyard shift.
