Game Improvement Irons - PXG 0311 XP?

Getting back into golf. Not good at all right now lol. Have a set of Mizuno Jpx 921 Forged from when I was playing a ton and simply cannot hit them well right now. Yes I know its the Indian not the arrow here. But life happens and for the foreseeable future I will likely not have the time like I used to go out to the range several times a week. Wanting to jump into a set of irons that will mask my bad shots (at least some lol)

 

I have access to the PXG heroes prices and was considering something like the gen 5 0311 XP but not necessarily tied to getting them. Also considered things like the TM Stealth's as well as others.

 

Any suggestions or thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Been playing my XP Gen 4s for about 2 years. Very easy to hit and feel is soft. Long due to the lofts but shot pattern are consistent for the number on the club. A friend of mine has the Stealth. He is very consistent with them but does not get the height on them as I do with the XPs. In the past we both had the same shot pattern when he played the TM previous model. Both of us are playing graphite shafts. Looks goes to the PXG. That’s all I have to say about that. Results may vary.

Take a look at the Cool Clubs YouTube videos on irons. They test 6 impact locations using a swing robot. Very good info for forgiveness on off center hits and dispersion pattern. Obviously, the tests won’t tell you which shaft and specs you need but it’s a great starting point.

I played Gen3 XP for a few years, and recently switched to Gen4 XP. For me they are the perfect blend of forgiveness, feel, and distance. Another option you might want to look at are the 0211 irons. They aren’t quite as forgiving as the XP, but pretty close. At heroes pricing you won’t find a better club or better price.

I did the opposite transition a few years ago. Went from the Gen 3 XPs to the Mizuno 921 F. At the time, I didn’t like the chunky look of the XP especially in comparison to the thinner top line and more compact 921 F. Ended up gaming the 921 F for awhile but could never be consistent with it either and traded in for the 921 HMP, which was a lot better iron for my skill level at the time.

 

Fast forward to today, the current XP model and even Gen 5 is a lot better looking at address and would have no problem gaming it over the Gen 3 version, but currently happy with my Gen 6 Ps.
