4W to 4UI gapping

I'm sure this has been asked a ton, but my current setup is driver - 5 wood (turned down to 16.5*) then u505 4 iron to T200 5-pw & wedges. Any recommendations on what to put between my 4 wood and u505 4 iron? I haven't been getting along with hybrids as of recent and fell in love with the u505 4 iron from both the tee and the turf. I currently have a sim2 3 hybrid in the bag that I don't use due to more bad shots than good. I would consider a 3 or 4 iron in the u505 but torn on what the ideal move is.

The combination 4wood 7wood is very popular and would fit your gapping probably. 
the 7 wood is very versatile and you get a high ball flight with a soft landing. 
there are several different 7 woods out there, loft variations from 20.5 to 23. you probably need to try some

Depending on how you hit the 4 iron, a 7 wood could be a good idea. Not lots of options for you really if you don't like hybrids. A 2 or 3 iron might not really give you anything different to what you already have.

I go from an f2 turned down to 17, to a Callaway UW 21*, then a 4 driving iron. Gaps pretty well for me, although there are times the 4di could use more height. But it's great for bullet tee shots on tight par 4s.

I go 4w/3DI/7w/5i and it fits my needs well. As AMs, we don't hit our longer clubs nearly as good as our shorter clubs so having some overlap in carry is ok, especially if one club rolls out more than the other despite similar carry. All are unique tools to help you play the game

I have been using some combo of 4W + 7W since 2012.

I have a 4 hybrid between my 4w and my 4U. The gapping works well for me.

Apex UW is worth looking at.  I didn't get along with low lofted hybrids and also tried a 7-wood that I just didn't care for.  Apex UW at 21 degrees sits right in the middle for me and is perfect.

 

The Srixon utility iron is fantastic.  My son has the 3-iron and buddy has the 2-iron... VERY good club.

Think the gapping from your first fairway wood to your first iron is the biggest aberration of all of golf equipment. It is the most replaced spot in the bag and always a bad round away to be posted on BST.

 

I have a 5w, UW, 2 hybrids, 2 driving irons in that spot and will probably never have a permanent club for it 😅

 

Go with what you feel the best with that gives you the most confidence in hitting it solid whether iron hybrid or wood. Dont go by what fav tour players go by or the new trend or fad

If you hit your 4 wood well then try a 7 wood. Adjustible would be nice to help manage the gap, but the ball flight difference between the 4U and 7W will be helpful by itself. Want a high approach shot? 7W. Want a low fairway finder? 4U.  7W will probably be better out of the rough than the 4U as well.
