I never understand this whole turf interaction thing....you're supposed to strike the ball then the ground... the ball is gone by the time turf interaction occurs so why would that matter unless are you talking about deeper rough?? I have the 230"s and have gamed the 200's never the 210 so dont know much about that... 230's have been fantastic for me .. front to back dispersion is sensational....

It matters. Even if some of it is mental.

The feeling of digging trenches (think sharp leading edges with low bounce) vs. getting in and out of the ground quickly and cleanly (Srixon V-sole, i2xx high-bounce sole with rounded leading edge, preworn leading edges) definitely matters to me. I hate that feeling of slowing down and being stuck after impact. Mostly out of the fairway and light rough — doesn’t really matter out of deep rough.

I love the i230s. Only had the i210s briefly but I’d say they were similar, if I’m remembering correctly. Only thing I dislike about the i230s is how they made the long irons smaller — something most other people seem to like.

Well Ping ground 4* of bounce off Hovland's i210's and tweaked the camber so he could gain a little more height and spin (1* and 150-250rpm and steeper landing angle) while not losing distance so there's that. He also claimed they felt a touch better. Obviously he's a little above the average WRX punter (probably not in CHS tho) but the point remains.

He only had those special grinds in play for a few rounds all the way back in 2020 and has been back to the standard soles ever since.

Zac Blair was using some of these i210 made for Hovland just the other day because he prefers the lower bounce/camber etc. The point is even if you are striking the ball first the sole does still make minor differences.

It matters immensely.  Go hit Miura 501 and you'll notice the club going into the ground and not coming out.

If turf interaction wasn't a critical thing, manufacturers wouldn't be working tirelessly on the concept.  Srixon wouldn't be touting their V-sole, Pre-worn leading and trailing edges wouldn't be discussed for various iron releases, and Bob Vokey would be rendered irrelevant.

Not doubting you at all on turf interaction, I 100% agree.  As others said, you hit the ball first that's true, but if your anticipating the club sticking in the ground a bit, you will subconsciously change your swing to avoid it, whereas if you have a club that glides right through the turf, you will swing more freely and naturally.

the 210’s spin a bit more for me, and are a bit more clicky, but not loud.  Don’t love the plastic looking back on the 230, I prefer the 210’s overall.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
