Gift for member guest - I am the guest

I have been invited to play in an event, very similar to American member guest. I would like to give my partner a gift for the invitation. I am not sure of his clothing sizing (likely my size), shoe size, etc. He lives, and the event is located, where the exchange of/return of gifts could be an issue. I hate to check take golf balls - not very personal. Any thoughts?

Is he a bourbon drinker?  There are a bunch of distilleries who will either customize a bottle or you could blend one yourself for the occasion.

 

That would be my vote along with a nice flask (and for the love of all that is holy...use a glass flask, never use steel/metal).

 

Depending on where you are a lot of the makers can ship to your final destination.

Depends entirely on your relationship.  Business? Sure,  get something.  Future father in law? Absolutely. College drinking buddy? Not necessary.

Gift Certificate to one of the off course golf shops or perhaps a restaurant.

No gift cards, might as well give cash.

 

If he likes wine or bourbon, get him something nice and unique that he doesn’t see every day. If not a drinker, something related to what he enjoys.

Not an easy question to answer not knowing the relationship between the two of you or how his invite to you came about. If you are also a club member, you could always invite him to a similar event at your club.

A little more information. My wife and his wife went to high school together along time ago. I have played with him a few times but we are not close and live in separate countries. We will be flying for the visit which will be on a Caribbean island at a nice club. I don’t trust the airlines the handle checked baggage - though I’ll have trust them with my clubs. 
 

My club’s pro shop has a nice flask set with the club’s imprint. Really pretty nice. Not fragile, a club gift, and something more personal than golf balls. Thoughts?

Sounds simple and perfect, I’d skip the set and do just 1 really nice flask.

A nice personalized divot tool, ball marker and valuables pouch? Or the most useful gift would be some personalized golf balls
