Q-Series - Magnolia Grove Golf Course, Mobile, AL

  • Entries are closed.
  • Practice Rounds: Tuesday - Wednesday, November 28 - 29, 2023
  • Tournament Rounds: Thursday - Tuesday, November 30 - December 5, 2023
  • Rain Date: Wednesday, December 6, 2023

I don't know whether Muni He, Lucy Li, Annie Park or Yealimi Noh is in the field; but it should be an entertaining 6 round tournament no matter what.

Muni didn't enter 2022 Q-Series as well; she did pretty well in 2023 for herself.

yes the difference in starts between bottom half of Q school and 100-125 previous year is not much and gets wiped away pretty much during the first reshuffle.  just need to make the early starts count!

Lucy Li is in Australia for the Australian Open this week.

  1. Thirty-eight Players from #101 - #150 on 2023 CME ranking are here.
  2. Players like Muni He are exeptions.  Most players not on the list are either already on sick-leave or maternity leave or players like Pernilla Lindberg, So Yeon Ryu, Jessica Korda, Brittany Lincicome who may have other priorities.
  3. It looks like the $4.0 million prize for the winner at 2024 CME Tour Championship plays a powerful factor.

The list of players who're in the field from # 101 - 150 on 2023 CME ranking; it'll be a tough tournament to finish T-20 or better:

#101 - #110 (8):     Mina Harigae, Maddie Szeryk, Jeongeun Lee5, Kelly Tan, Amanda Doherty, Nicole Broch Estrup, Emma Talley,                                                               Lucy Li

#111 - #120 (7):      Lauren Hartlage, Xiaowen Yin, Daniela Darquea, Soo Bin Joo, Ruixin Liu, Yealimi Noh, Dewi Weber

#121 - #130 (9):     Marissa Steen, Dottie Ardina, Min Lee, Polly Mack, Natthakritta Vongtaveelap, Lauren Stephenson, Hyo Jun Jang,                                                       Su Oh, Annie Park

#131 - #140 (7):     Cydney Clanton, Pauline Roussin, Weiwei Zhang, You-sang Hou, Aline Krauter, Sophia Schubert, Gabriella Then

#141 - #150 (7):     Jing Yan, Jennifer Chang, Alena Sharp, Mariajo Uribe, Sofia Garcia, Haeji Kang, Jennifer Song

Lucy most likely registered because she didn't expect to play Q-Seris this week.  She's already scratched from the leaderboard of Women's Australian Open.

Thanks @18majors I see Li is no longer in the player list now. We're getting 5 hours live coverage a day here of the Aussie Open.

If they choose,  Ryu can use career top 20 status and Lincicome career top 40.

Clearly you forgot to mention Ana Pelaez Trivino who finished 5th in the Race to Costa del Sol this year ahead of both Fosterling and way way ahead of Spitz, cherry picker...

As I can't speak about the gals from the JLPGA or KLPGA, I see a lot of missed cuts and a handful of top 10's from the rest, if they make it.

Wonder if former no.1 ranked amateur  Pauline Roussin will ever come around like Lilia Vu did...or even a little bit. She has a great on course personality, with plenty of spunk.

I'm sure I forgot to mention several others from the LET as well, I don't follow the D list tour 😂

Even if you don't make it in QSeries we point to exhibit A in 2022: Andrea Lee, and exhibit B in 2023: Bianca Pagdanganan.  Granted they didn't capitalize early on but still, they missed the cut in the Qseries' the years prior.

My bet for this year? Someone from the former PAC 12 fails to make the cut in QSeries but makes it for 2024.  So who are the candidates?  Immediately YuSang or Jenny Chang or, even Muni He (maybe that's how she's playing this! 😆)

Maybe the 2 euro gals i mentioned above - Fosterling, who was teammates with LG at ASU or Emma Spitz from UCLA, who could be just a euro Kristen Gillman despite being a successful amateur player.  Hopefully its not Annie !  😞

Pairings are out!  This is such a diverse group, handicapping isn't easy.  We'll go with the Rolex Ranking:

KLPGA

Jin He Im                         #40

So Mi Lee                        #57

Yu Jin Sung                     #66

JLPGA

Mao Saigo                       #43

Yuri Yoshida                    #69

By the way, Jin He Im is the #4 ranked KLPGA player after Min Ji Park (32), Ye Won Lee (36) and Su Ji Kim (38); Mao Saigo is the #4 ranked JLPGA player after Ji Yai Shin (15), Miyu Yamashita (19) and Aki Iwai (37).

I think Somi will be the best Korean out this bunch, but this is a strong group, but there are probably 5 better prospects still in klpga

Yewon Lee, Youmin Hwang, SS Bang, Ina Yoon, Min Byeol Kim

Got a few personal favorites that I'm pulling for.

Sophia Schubert and Kaitlye Papp-Budde who both played for my Texas Longhorns.

Mariel Galdiano and Savannah Vilaubi who I became acquainted with when they played in the WAPT events held at my home course. Two of the nicest young ladies and easy to pull for.

Schubie struggled big time this year with a full ride. Hopefully she gets her groove back.

I expect Papp to earn her card and not lose it for a while.
