These are all great options to consider and good advice in general. I appreciate.

Bluejack didn't even cross my mind but I do have family in Houston, so that could make sense and I will check it out further!

Great course and excellent facilities with some really fun stuff (lighted short course/putting green, good family options)

I am a little older than you and all that I can offer is that tastes and areas change over 30-40 years.  I would find and area that you like and then worry about golf later - until then, travel around and play a lot of places.  You are not even going to know if you REALLY like a club until you get to know all of the members and find out if they are cool or a bunch of doochers... and they can change out too.

For example, I used to want to move to Florida, but now my tastes have changed more to San Diego or Honolulu.  When I was younger, I never would have considered Palm Springs, but I really like it just for golf and relaxing - maybe not to live there for long.

Then, when you pick, don't get upset if 40 years does not happen... just have the attitude that you are going to enjoy it as long as you enjoy it and then move on.  You might get 40 years, but you also might be done with an area after 15 or 20.

Lastly, if you have a partner in life, let them have a large say in the general area... this will help you out a bunch.  You can usually figure out great golf anywhere if they are happy.

There’s a lot of wisdom in this post. Reminds me of the “forever home”. Seems like those usually end up being more like 10 year homes. Not for any negative reason, but needs and circumstances evolve over time.

Not to continue this tangent but this is somewhat apropos to the topic...People of all types that can afford a mere $500 tee time have the limited opportunity to play Old Barnwell in April https://oldbarnwell.com/april-access/

All for private course that allow limited public play but the price is somewhat ironic given the mission statement.

I mean they specifically say on the website that the profits they make off these April rounds will be used FOR that mission….

its no secret that these new Aiken clubs plan on using the Masters as a cash cow

But it's also SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than all the rest of the courses of similar quality in the area that week. The Tree Farm is asking $940 a man ($3200 a tee time + $140 caddy fee). Sage Valley $5k for a foursome.

Wow Sage Valley has doubled in the last five years.

I think the added comp in the area will see those prices fall...  Palmetto and Sage had it locked up but now they have a few more people at the party...

Have you looked at things like Dormie network, or even investigated Outpost Club membership? If you want to travel and play with new people, I know someone who has leveraged contacts from Outpost club to play a lot of top courses. Unless you are purchasing a second home at the site of your national membership, the ability to hit a bunch of different courses sounds more appealing with a multi-club membership.

I've got a friend that is part of DN and loves it - could be a great option since it gives you access to a couple clubs spread out across the country.

Driver: Callaway Paradym 10.5* with Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 60 Stiff

Fairways:  Callaway Paradym 3W & 7W with Hzrdus Smoke Blue RDX 70 Stiff

Irons:  Cobra Forged TEC 4-PW with KBS Tour Stiff

Wedges:  Callaway Jaws Raw Plasma 50, 54 & 58

Putter:  Scotty Phantom X 5.5

Of it were me.

I'd look Palm Springs, LaQuinta

Something out of left field.

Kinloch in VA.  It's just an unbelievable golf course. Superb condition and very reasonable as a national membership. At least last time I checked.

It's about 60 minutes outside Williamsburg, VA.

I've researched this topic almost nonstop for the last couple of years and a sneaky good national deal that I've stumbled across is Hamilton Farm Golf Club in New Jersey. Great 18 hole course, a USGA rated 18 hole par 3 course, caddies, housing on site, and 30 minutes from the airport. Last I heard the initiation was around 20k for national.

Another play running some deals is Dismal River in Nebraska. 36 holes with housing on site. When I was looking into it, they had just lost some greens from a bad winter so idk where that stands.

Hello from Signal Mountain.

I can't imagine naming a club Dismal River. Maybe it's a ruse to keep people away.

That's the name of the river it was built near

I mean yeah, obviously, but it doesn't make it a good name for a club.
