Jailbird Lovers & Users,

As you are now in a relationship with a Jailbird, what is your ex-putter you broke it off with? Has your putting improved?

My Odyssey Tour Black #5 is 12 years old and wanted to try a newer mallet style putter.  I pre-ordered a 34” crank hosel ai Jailbird with white hot insert and I should receive it in mid March.  I demoed last years Versa Three T recently and really liked the insert and Versa alignment aid so I figured I’d roll the dice with the new Jailbird.

I am still spending lots of time with my Jailbird.  I got in trade for some work a Red one with a microhinge insert.  I stripped it and played it silver for awhile with the longer grip/length and lead tape on the bottom.  I got blinded a few times in the summer so painted it.  I am putting well with it currently, or was before the winter.   I have only played 27 holes in the last 7 weeks due to weather and or traveling, so nothing recent.

Previously I have putted with a LAB Mezz, MIzuno M Craft VI, and numerous Mannkrafted putters.  The Mizuno was super streaky, the Mannkrafted were great on the midrange (8-20 feet) and average on longer.  The MEZZ was money inside of 8 feet, but horrid from 8-20, and average on the long putts.

My Jailbird is the first that is money in close, still make the 8-20 and average on the longer putts.

That being said I just ordered a Jailbird AI Mini.  Because, why not?

I played a few rounds with the Jailbird and have switched back to the x5.5. I do better with a slant neck on the course. May experiment with a SS 3.0 grip after using a bigger grip on the JB.

Goodwood g7. I still love the goodwood but man the jailbird has been good so far.

my new Ex is now the jailbird 380. My current flame is the AI Cruiser Jailbird. Love the feel of the new insert and weighting compared to the microhinge and seem to roll it better. Same specs as I had the cruiser built to 39” with the super stroke

My ex was a Mizuno V with the heavy weights. Its still hanging around but the 380 Jailbird is much better on anything on 20ft and in, outside that Im still trying to dial it in. I get occasional yips or twitch and it is much better with those.

I've only putted @ 40 holes with the Jailbird so far (half of which were on crap greens), so I don't have much experience with it yet... But I tried left-hand-low on it last night (I have never putted LHL previously with any putter), and it appears to be a match made in heaven.

If any of you go LHL on your JB, where on the grip are you putting your hands that's giving you the best results?

I got mine in and felt the exact same thing with left hand low. I’ve dabbled before but it never stuck. With this CB putter it feels great. My thumbs hit the 2 S’s in the odyssey.

Thanks for the reply. My original grip says "Super Stroke" down the front of it, and I've essentially got my thumbs on those two S's. Is that what you meant, or did they change the grips to say "Odyssey" down them now? (Mine is the white-with-red Super Stroke.) Thanks again!

Stock grip is an Odyssey 17" counterbalance grip. The SS grip is an upcharge, but it's the Zenergy Tour 3.0 17". I could be wrong, but the stock Oddy grip feels like a 2.0 SS grip compared to the 3.0 that came on the versa JB

Yeah, I just saw and held the Cruiser in a store the other day, and my initial impression was that the stock grip is very different feeling than the SS on the OG Jailbird. I much prefer everything about the SS.

Switched from SC Phantom X5.5 to the Odyssey Jailbird Cruiser Putter

As a golfer constantly seeking that elusive perfect stroke, I recently purchased the Odyssey Jailbird Cruiser Putter, and after initial buyers remorse I found how to putt with this putter and its been a game-changer in more ways than one,  this putter offers unparalleled stability and consistency on the greens.

What sets the Jailbird Cruiser apart is its ability to minimize three-putts and promote a smoother, more steady stroke. The 38-inch length allows for a taller stance, providing better visibility of the putting line and relieving stress on the back—a feature that's been beneficial for me. Whether it's short putts or medium-range efforts, this putter delivers confidence-inspiring results with each stroke.

Where the Jailbird Cruiser truly shines, however, is on longer putts. Initially, I struggled to dial in the distance control with this putter. However, after focusing on a more shoulder-dominant swing, I found my groove. Going lighter on the grip allowed me to let the putter do the work, resulting in smoother and more consistent roll-outs on those lengthy lag putts.

In comparison to my previous putter, the Jailbird Cruiser offers a unique blend of stability, precision, and versatility that has significantly improved my putting. While the Scotty Phantom X 5.5 is undoubtedly a fantastic putter, the Jailbird Cruiser has become my go-to choice for its ability to deliver consistent results across a variety of putting scenarios. Just a real adaptation moving away from a handsy stroke to a true shoulder stroke.

If you're a golfer looking to minimize three-putts and achieve a smoother, more steady stroke, I highly recommend giving the Odyssey Jailbird Cruiser Putter a try.

Did…. the Jailbird cruiser write this post? And here we thought AI was just a marketing scheme.

Jk—as someone who has one on the way, I’m looking forward to putting mine through the ringer!
