Dog friendly courses in Joshua Tree/Palm Springs

Hi all,

My fiancee and I will be staying in Joshua Tree in March with our dog and we were hoping to play a round of golf with him in the Joshua Tree/Palm Springs area. Does anyone know any courses that are dog friendly?

The closest I found to anyone mentioning it online was:

Which appears to be Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort.

Any tips here would be very helpful!

Not sure why this post was necessary. The OP didn't ask for your opinion about dogs on the course in general. Dogs on the course are pretty common in some parts of the world.

We 'muricans will tend to abuse any privilege extended to us, so most courses won't allow it, which is fine. But the OP is asking whether there are any that do in an area he will be visiting, which is also fine.

I've seen folks with small dogs, on leashes, at Oak Valley in Beaumont. But I'm not sure if they had the course's blessing. It's generally pretty open and casual in the afternoon there, so that's probably worth a try. The closest course to Jtree is Hawks Landing, in Yucca Valley. No idea on their dog policy, but it's also pretty low-key, so probably worth a call.

Personally, I'd love to be able to bring my dog for a late afternoon round occasionally, and I'm sure others would too. So OP, if you find a dog-friendly course in the area, I'd love to hear about it.

I won't address the "murican."

Even though I am a dog person, I still wouldn't take my dog to the golf course, and he's schutzhund trained. Dogs on the course were a BOD topic at my last club; there's more to not allowing them than most owners consider. Make sure to have dog insurance and have the policy with you.

Dogs on golf courses are more common in some rural parts of states, but NOT at all common in the Desert or much of Southern California, or Maui, and I've played MOST courses. My VP, who lives in the Mtns of another state, takes his dog to his local $25 muni course all the time.

I know a few private clubs that allow them leashed at certain times of the day, but not likely at public/muni tracks with filled tee sheets. I heard recently some courses are charging for them, after experiencing serious behavioral problems.

To be very clear, he would be on a leash the entire time and probably riding around in a cart for most of it. He has also been known to enjoy a golf course where it is pet friendly.

You might have more luck towards San Diego. There’s at least one CC that allows dogs off leash so I’d think there would be one that would allow a leashed dog.

Did you have any luck with this or find any options? We’re also looking for a dog-friendly golf course in Southern California but not finding much info when researching online.
