ESPN+ A Disappointment

Their coverage is generally worse than the older version of PGA Tour Live. Their main feed is okay, but once Golf Channel begins coverage, the main feed goes away and we get featured groups. That's when it gets bad. They stick with the featured group, which is just one twosome or threesome, even when the players are standing around waiting on the group in front, or when they are walking to their balls. The older version covered two groups, so there was more likelihood of actually seeing shots.

As mentioned, the main feed goes away and is not their choice. Their featured groups are as advertised. I don't see the complaint here as they don't have any other options.

If they went to other groups, they would no longer be a featured group(s) broadcast. Something they're no allowed to do.

It's for sure a pgat problem, not ESPNs fault. We as viewers shouldn't have to chase coverage around various paid sites and TV channels to watch an event, particularly on a given day.

Imagine how ridiculous it would be it if at half time an NFL game switched from Peacock to ESPN. That's kind of what the PGAT coverage does.

If an NFL broadcast were 9 hours long, and different players played in the first half who weren't really playing for anything other than their paycheck and didn't affect the outcome, and thus that portion of the broadcast wasn't economical enough to be on ESPN, they would do that.

Remember--the alternative to chasing coverage isn't 9 straight hours of golf on NBC/CBS. It's them not broadcasting the lesser-value hours of play at all.

TV contracts is the reason why coverage becomes limited on ESPN+ once GC starts. If the tour wanted they could put every shot on ESPN+. Increase the subscription price by $5 and have something similar to the Masters app.

its more like a double hitter in baseball where first game is played around lunch time followed by a night game. those are always on the same channel due to tv contracts with the team not the mlb, if the tv contracts were like augasta's there would be alot less channel movement day to day but there would be alot of movement week to week.
