Slower speeds allow for slower backswings, because that’s one pace.

 

Slow backswings when you’re trying to smash it is not one pace.

 

People use the term slow smooth tempo.  That’s awful.

 

The relevant term is proper rhythm.

Is there a backswing to downswing ratio you find works for more people (ala tour tempo 3:1)? 

 

And do you have an objective measure of "slow" or is it more of a subjective thing?

Second round with this feeling of a faster back swing. Lead to my best nine ever at +3. 90% of iron shots were crisper and on target. Longer clubs are going to take some work still. Thanks for the tip @MonteScheinblum
