Miura IC-602 vs Epon AF-507 & Graphite Shaft Selection

12 Handicapper here. Currently gaming axiom shafts with Titleist T200s.

Was thinking of getting a set of the new Epon AF-507, or Miura IC-602 as a treat to myself. Both coming out in April I believe but preorder needs to go out asap. Wanted to know the differences between the two in terms of feel and performance based on previous models. Looking for feel mostly with the heads.

Also looking at aftermarket graphite shafts. I had experience with Axiom (75g R) and MMT (85R).

Looking for the smoothest feeling shafts. Also was looking for more soft, i felt the axioms were a bit stout and stiff, and MMTs was a bit drippy imo.

I was told the Accra Iseries is on the smoother side, but yet to test. So if anyone has any inputs it'd be greatly appreciated.

Anyways, looking for some feedback and recommendations.

I hit the Epon 506 and Miura 602 both yesterday with a few different shafts at Club Champion. I'm not a big graphite iron shaft guy, but I almost pulled the trigger on some Steelfiber 110cw. They are a very smooth, mid-launch shaft. In the end, I couldn't make myself pair the steelfibers with the 506's, which I was ready to order before I heard there were 507s coming out. So, I'll wait a week and get the 507s with either Nippon 105 Tours or Oban CT115. I haven't decided yet.

All that said, the Epon head is incredibly soft and gives wonderful feedback. I had a hard time getting enough spin with the Miuras, and I'm not sure I want to pay the premium for a cast Miura. I just couldn't stop smiling when hitting the Epons.

What is difference between nippon 105 and oban...in feel and spin

They are very similar in feel. I felt like the Nippon had a bit more kick in the tip than the Oban, but I think either would pair nicely with the 506s. Will likely go with the Oban because they come in an R+, which is closer to what I need in terms of flex (80 mph 7-iron SS).

Ahhh, i tried the 602 and didn't like them, feels like a cast club with technology made for players. The face was really small. I went with AF 507 went with the recoil dart v 90.

Did you hit the 507.... look awesome can you tell us bout them?

Just got a 506 demo 7 iron that I'll hit in a few days... used to play 302 back when but now play 2015 Kuros

Of all the hollow, foam-filled clubs I hit, they were the best. They were the most consistent, best looking, and not too juiced for distance. I hit the AF 506 and loved it, but my AF 507s with Oban 115s arrive today. VERY Excited.

So the differences that I've felt between the miura 602 and epon af 507

i'm a mid handicapper, 602 face is small, top line is bigger, blade length is good, sole design seems like it'd be good for turf interaction. Hosel one of those ping ones so it can bend better.

Miuras felt really good, felt similar to 302. It feels dense when you make impact, it's soft but weird to describe cause it's so dense, it's like hitting something with a blunt object, I like it but at the same time not in love with it. In order of difficulty to hit i'd say CB-302 --> IC-602 --> PI-401

AF 507 visually, top line is thin, but sole is wider, not sure about offset. The feeling is more soft and smooth, I'm using the recoil darts for shafts. The ball feels like it launches more effortlessly, but since the face is so thin, i think there is more feedback. Forgiveness is good, i can tell cause 2 shots would feel different but relatively similar flight characteristics.

I think Epon is between mid handicap and game improvement. While Miura is more players distance / mid handicap. I would say Miura is inline with Mizuno 245 in terms of difficulty, face does feel smaller.

Yeah I just hit both IC 602 and AF 507 side by side, liked the Epons more

My old copper 301s aren't going to last forever... and i've just seen the pics of the new copper TN P790s

I've played MMT 85s and Axiom 75s, I play normally in the 85-90g range, but I like the kick that i feel with the darts makes me release better imo. I don't actually like the axioms that much, felt too stout.
