Spots showing up on stainless putter

Picked this up in November and been in my house since. Took the cover off yesterday to hit some putts in the garage and noticed spotting around the bumpers. Putter is stainless with a torch finish. Any idea what the cause is or how to fix it? I’ve been in contact with the manufacturer and they are stumped.

Can happen with torched finishes, something could have gotten on the head like fertilizer or similar. 

 

Needs to be blasted and torched again.

Hmm weird. It’s never seen outside yet.

You can bring the outside inside. 

 

But many factors as of what could have happened. One issue with torched finishes.

Just be aware it could happen again if you do a torched finish, so not sure if opting for another finish is something you want.

Still don’t really understand how or why.  Clubs seen 1 ball indoors on a putting mat

Weird.  Whose putter is it?  Sink? 
 

Could of been where a lot of the heat was concentrated and did something to the steel.  Who knows

Stainless isnt stain proof.  303 stainless steel isnt super stain resistant to start with. Heating it to torch it decreases its stain resistance along with bead blast finish increasing likelihood of staining. Torching by nature is an oxidized finish increasing the likelyhood of different oxidation

Yes. I spoke with Olly today actually, suspects humidity and moisture, possibly during or after torching. He’d going to machine new one and go with a different finish.

My experience with spots is over torching/heating because the putter was not prepped correctly before torching.
