Question for Superspeed Speedstick users

Really didn't want to read through the 100's of post on the initial thread so a quick question please.

 

Do you guys do the exercises duplicating your normal swings a close as possible? Or do you just swing away?

I asked because a few years ago when I started this my swing got a little sloppy. I attributed this to the speed training and swinging like a raped ape during the training. So I ended up just quitting the speed sticks after a few weeks.

 

Guess I just need to keep more focus on my swing while practicing / playing. At this point ( 66 years old ) I NEED to do this to get speed up. Average driver speed is 90mph but it eats me up that is all I got left now.

Over 60, just don’t max out on some of the protocols. I’ve known a few older folks who’ve gotten hurt trying the same exact protocols as young people.

 

Don’t swing as hard. You may get to 95 again, or faster? But set your expectations a bit lower than if you’re 50.

I am68 years old and I do a little speed stick training several times a week.  I do whatever I feel like and I don’t force anything.  I do try to maintain the swing mechanics I am working on while speed training.  I don’t think that going all out for speed in the past ever did me much good.

 

I use a swing fan quite a bit and that seems to be easy on my body while helping to maintain what speed I still have.

Thanks for the input and I have thought about that. I'm in pretty good physical shape. Workout 6 days a week and have been for years. Been retired now for almost 4 years. I have Grandpa duty about 12 days a month. On the days I don't we usually play 36 holes a day.

That’s great! Staying athletic at an older age is already quite an accomplishment.

 

Super Speed was developed by a young long driver. Younger people heal faster, so they can handle the maximum protocols and heal from it.

 

Backing off to 90% to 95% of max protocol may help avoid “pain points” in the wrists or other parts of the body.

 

It’s not really worth getting injured just to attempt to gain something like 8mph, whereas you can safely/easily gain 5mph.
