Palm Springs trip this May - a quick question

Have a boys Palm Springs trip this May. We are playing Silver Rock fri, Indian canyon south sat and Pete Dye Mountain course on Sun. We are pretty pumped.

Quick question I have is that I heard Silver Rock is under construction. Has anybody played it recently? Did it affect your experience?

It was last May when I played it so things may have changed. The course wasn't under construction but some buildings were. Well, sort of under construction. It seems they ran out of money and "paused" the work.

I hope the weather holds up for you. We do an annual trip at the end of May. We've had temps from 75 degrees to 120.

Got it. Ya our trip is the first week in May. Hopefully not too hot.

I played it this past December. The residential construction project along a few of the holes has been dormant for quite some time (years?) and is just a visual detraction if anything with half-built bare wood structures weathering in the sun. A few holes were altered to accommodate the housing project, which made them worse holes; 18 in particular is sort of a letdown finishing hole. However, they are fully established at this point. The whole course is still very good in my opinion and shouldn't be skipped.

The clubhouse (a trailer) and parking lot are quite a long cart ride from the driving range, and the driving range is a long cart ride from #1 tee, so I'd suggest padding your arrival time prior to your tee time a bit.

I am in Rancho Mirage staying at friends, multiple times every year, going again soon. I haven't played Silver Rock in a few years. Except for sheep sightings, wasn't really impressed, but maybe things have changed.

There are other courses that I would play before that one. Mtn course is nice, and Indian South is always in great shape, you'll enjoy those, as South is wide open, not long and bangers delight. One of my favorites is Marriott Shadow Ridge and both courses at Desert Willow, and Classic Club teeing off early in the morning.

im curious to hear how the Pete Dye Mtn course is. I was there in November (so post-overseed) and parts of it were being rebuilt after the flooding from the monsoons. Most of it was unimpacted but like half of #1 and #9 had been washed away. There was a section on the back too in the mountains which had construction crews actively rebuilding the wash lining a couple of holes.
