G400 to G430 Transition

I’m hoping to get some thoughts for somebody that went through similar transition

 

ive been playing G400 max for years and recently decided to upgrade to G430. 

 

I had good numbers on LM with G430 Lst and kaili shaft 60x and decided to go that route

 

I’ve been unable to get comfortable with the shaft feel at range and on course  and my miss is now a snap hook left. 
 

im coming from Alta cb 55x in my G400 which I hit very straight

 

Advise on which shaft could have similar feel to my Alta in the G430 set up would be very much appreciated

I can’t give an opinion on the G430 as I went from the G400 to the G410, and then the G425 and finally the Cobra Aerojet. But my advice is do not sell, trade or give away your G400 like I did. My grandson wanted it and being the perfect grandpa I gave it to him. Once I realized it really is the GOAT driver for me I told my grandson I was going to give him the “upgraded” G410 and I wanted the G400 back and the brat wouldn’t make the trade. He’s using it on his HS golf team and he too hits it good. I had to drop $175 for a head on eBay but it was worth it.

Sounds like you should find a Alta 55x shaft and put a new adapter on it for your G430. My son went from the G400 Max to the G425 Max this year went with his same custom shaft, only difference is the G425 is a little more noisy. Hits nothing but baby fades and straight bombs with it as usual.

I have both the G430 LST and Max. The LST is a great driver, and a terrific balance of low spin plus forgiveness. That said, the G430 Max is a decent amount more forgiving, so I tend to play the Max more often. Your miss of a low pull hook has been my miss with the lower spin drivers. It did not happen much with the LST, but it can happen.

 

Point being, you can try lofting up from what you have been playing the LST at. Add a bit more loft, add a bit more spin, and your snap hook could go away. Or, sorry to say that the G430 Max might have been a better transition from your G400 Max.

 

Other than that, plenty of other shafts out there, including the stock shafts like the Tour Chrome, Tour Black, Alta, etc. I found the Tour Chrome to work really well with the G430 LST, as I think the Tour Chrome added some spin which made the LST more forgiving. YMMV.

The ALTA being a CB shaft, this might be what is causing your issue or at least contributing to it.  You should be able to find another ALTA CB with the correct adapter for the 430 or you can try a Tensei orange which is another CB shaft.  This was a stock offering a few years ago with ping and starting with the 410 the adapters are the same as the 430.  The previous post about lofting up the LST is a good idea also.  Adding more spin might help straighten it out for you.
