 Closing abruptly was chris like usual. I know 2 posters who stopped doing business with him for few years. He banned many members and crazy overcharges for his seven brand.

Last purchase from him was pre COVID. It was either 2017 or 2018.

The online shop is still running, it’s just the forums that have closed.

 

tbh, they’ve been dead for a long time(the forums) one or 2 diehards post but the decline has been going on for some time.

Stinks.  I found it a few years ago and went back and read most of the posts since the forum started.  Looks like this is the last resource for JDM info.

Not surprised. It was pretty dead for a while now and only few people were posting there.

I hope the store doesn't fold up too! Seems like they don't add new products as often.

Felt like you were kind of walking on eggshells on the forum  after Chris booted a bunch of people for posts he didnt like.  Instead of it being a JDM website it became a seven/kyeoi website with some other jdm offerings.  Hey its his business he can do what he wants but it is a shame to lose all the old posts with it.

 What didn't seem like fair business practice was that the yen/dollar exchange rate had drastically moved in favor of the dollar for the better part of the last couple of years and everything in Japan should be that much cheaper to US buyers (me) ...  So I waited and waited to see if prices would possibly come down on TSG... but it never did... I should have figured.  Rather, it continued to use 100 yen/dollar rate and rode the US inflation price hikes on top of that.  So profit there would have been +50% or more for the last 2 years.   How's that for treating their long time members/customers!?  Oh well.  My current favorite channel to buy Mercari + Buyee (especially when they have the 20% coupons for sporting goods!! )   It's odd but I've pretty much bought all my current Titleist stuff from Japan cuz it's cheaper to buy there even with shipping costs.

Chris has re directed tsg forums to a favebook group, he is pushing seven irons limited release 5kusd....or some putters 2k..some other company. He get rid of many old posters ....who spent alot with him. Forums were dead, but give a warning. Letsbsee he had a falling out with miura and epon

The forums were not serving his business if anything it was hurting it because the used club market that it promoted hurt his new club sales.  I get it but it's still kind of a bummer.  Hopefully the community albeit small can pick up somewhere else.

it's a shame that all the information is lost. There was a lot of information about the more niche jdm stuff on these forums.

I dont do JDM stuff or order from TSG but the owner of TSG sounds like a clown from the posts I've been reading.

 

IF the forum did have valuable tech or etc information, he could have just archived it so people could keep reading it but not post - and removed the stuff that was 'hurting his business' (lol).

 

If the owner was smart he would have done that as it would have driven traffic to his brand and website and he could have even built on it with links to current products and turned it into a direct traffic to product source. But...he didnt.
