I just read the article on SI.com - Congragulations David - I personally hope that this is a sign of things to come for him. He always seems like a class-act and he deserves better than what has happened the last 4 years. I am sure that there are many players who would have mailed it in and retired, but you have to admired David for sticking with it!

Congrat's to Duval! I've been waiting for his return to the top of the leaderboard. Making the first cut of the year and finishing with a 63 is a great start! :crazy:

I noticed that he has gained most if his weight back and playing better. I always thought that he lost way too much weight in just one off season and his game suffered IMHO. I think his slim body screwed his swing up big time. Just a thought.

I think you're dead right. Many years ago a good friend of mine who played then to a mid single digit handicap, went from being fairly overweight to slightly underweight, and his golf game completely went into the toilet. It was only when he regained some of the weight that his game returned, and he told me that it was absolutely due to the weight.

I believe this also. A lot of people point out that he won the British Open after all the weight loss but I remember him saying after the British that he hit the ball poorly all week. He claimed that he hit almost every full shot thin and was just able to get away with it on that type of setup. He attributed the win to his short game.

 

There are many cases of severe body changes affecting a players swing inluding Monty and Mickleson.

I would love to see him get his game back into shape before the Masters. The game is far more interesting when he is cometitive. He has such a wonderful golf swing, it is nice to see him getting results out of it again. Take away his first nine holes on Thursday, and he had a very solid showing.

Not sure if Duval's return to form is down to weight gain, although Craig Stadler's game suffered when he lost some poundage. One thing that DD does have that was missing for a while - confidence. Hopefully after his top 10 in Japan towards the end of last year and his good week in Hawaii we'll see the Duval we all remember again this season.
