Agreed. With the signing of tour players you think they would want some kind of tour products, and one way of doing this would be releasing the blades. Im sure the public wants to play what the tour players are using

So true. I have been amazed to hear my friends that play these (Cobra Forged SS or CB) cobra forged heads RAVE about them. People that hit them and arnt so attached to labels think these heads are top notch.

Isn't the tungsten weighting simply to make up for the lost weight since the heads are unchromed?

It's hard to say. It seems to me that players fall into several different categories. Some like the tape, and the security of knowing that they can peel it off on the range and re-tape if the clubs don't feel right (and we all know that this is a psychological crutch in most cases...). There are other players who don't like the look of tape and just have them tip weight in the hosel to get the swingweight on spec, and to heck with moving the cog off center by a few millimeters.

The forging dies for heads are expensive to have machined. In most cases they're machined for producing a production run of irons for retail sale, and in most cases they're looking for D-0 or D-1 in the finished product. Leave them raw and there's a little more weight to make up to get to D-5. Tungsten plugging on the sole is likely just another way to get the irons to a heavier swingweight spec than lead taping.

The Cobra irons in his bag are not that big. They are the SS forged CB in a raw finish. Something must be right with them, from the FW at #16 during practice he hit a nice wedge that landed six inches from the pin and with the spin held on for a simple two footer.

I see nothing wrong with the Big Bertha 2 iron. It's essentially a hybrid.

Me too, I agree... the top line isn't that thick, compared to Xtours and soem of the other stuff out there. Works for him.

A lot of anti-cobra snobs here!

Anxious to see the K grind set that Ogilvy is playing.

What is a K grind Sandy?

Agreed what is that? Any pics of Ogilvy's clubs?

This is what poulter and ogvilvy are playing.... pretty nice if you ask me... Hopefully those will be available to the public and not only tour clubs... Who knows, it is not likely from the way cobra has set up to the public as a very forgiving club... We just have to wait and see..

here are some pics...

They are NOT the SS model but the CB model. You can tell two ways the weight pad is the CB weight pad (not the SS weight pad). The second way is to open that first photo in photoshop CS2, crop the photo to show one of the irons, apply smart sharpen or unsharp mask and voila it says FORGED CB in the cavity.

His irons this weekend didn't look ported on the sole, it was a real close up of him on TV of his follow through and I'm nearly 100% sure there was no three discs on the bottom.

Has he changed in the last few weeks, a back up set perhaps ??

Could be. At the same time, look at this Pic. The head above the "L" in the watermark barely shows the ports.

Thanks Photoshop genius, but I was referring to S30C Steel as SS. Admittedly, that's a bit of a mislabel, since they are not SS-Stainless Steel, but rather S30C which is a carbon steel, so I should have put CS. Obviously, they are a CB model. I did not know Cobra even had a SS model. I don't really follow Cobra Golf.

Next time, post your photoshop work and share with all.

Regardless, they must be pretty nice clubsin Camillo's hands, he knocked down a lot of flagsticks this week.

Some shots of Camilo's awesome Cami Co - he was 14th in putting this week even with the 3 jack on 18 Saturday. Very promising young player.

Does anyone know when the cobra tour hats that Camillo and Jb are wearing are coming out too retail?

:)

Our rep told me they have a line of Cobra Speed hats coming to retail, they should be the same hats. I picked up a green tour Cobra hat at Riviera and I LOVE IT becasue its fits my genourmous head perfect :)

I heard they were a proto type forged iron , raw finished and ported and lead added for more sole weight as he hits the ball rather low.

You talkin' about Camilo's irons? If so It's been discussed quite a bit here. Def. a Forged CB, which is a retail head, with a raw finish and added weight in the sole. Don't really think the finish or added weight classifies it as a proto. though the way the heads are finished is def. not retail.
