Aldila Voodoo

Recommended Posts

Don't know why, but I never thought to check if there was a VooDoo review section. I am probably the most experienced Aldila VooDoo player in the world, other than maybe an Aldila R&D tester. I have played the following:

XVS6 (Retail, Pro Tour Only, and PGA Tour Only graphics)

XVS7 (Both retail and TP paint graphics.)

XVS8 (Retail and PGA Tour Only graphics.)

XVS9 (Tour only but in retail graphics)

XPP8 (PGA Tour Only graphics)

Apple's Fairway (XDV7 with stiffer tip, PGA Tour Only graphics)

CHIII - Limited Edition (XVS7 on steroids, PGA Tour Only graphics)

For Titleist - Hybrid HY-S S-Flex and have tested a Driver S-Flex (Retail for Titleist Graphics.)

As you can see, I have some pretty extensive testing and playing time. I have been on the hunt for XDV6, XDV8, XPP6, XPP7, XNS8 (NVS Profile), and XNV7 (NC Profile.) They all exist, but haven't found any at the right time. I'm pretty content with my current set up, save the 3 wood, I might try to find an XDV7 or XDV8 to put in there.

There will, with all certainty, be a Cinnamon VooDoo made. (I believe it will say XCN6, but I am not exactly sure on what it will be called.) It has been made, I was quoted $599 for it though, YIKES!!! The CHIII is the rarest I have played, it was a 1 of 1. I got my XPP8 last April, almost a year now, when I had it originally there were only 4 people in the world with one, Me, Jesper, Angel Cabrerra, and Andreas Romero. Yeah, I just put myself in a sentence with them, so what? haha.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask or shoot a PM. I don't have any connections with Aldila really, just do a lot of eBaying and am on a one-man quest to try every VooDoo out there...

XVS6 is an awesome driver shaft! I have had one in the big dog for over a year now. Launch is mid, on the lower-mid side than the higher-mid side, but still about middle height. I play an 8.5° with an untipped XVS6 at 45.5". I had it at 46.5" and still hit it dead straight. I shortened because I really don't need the distance, and the club was so long it felt like i needed a counter weight.

XVS7 is a good driver shaft or a 3 wood shaft. Slightly lower launch and heavier than the XVS6.

XVS8 is a good 3 wood or 5 wood shaft. Nice boring flight, tight dispersion.

XPP8 is probably the best FW shaft I have ever hit, only problem is it is a tad harsh off the deck so I switched. Super low launch, Super low spin, super tight dispersion.

Apple's Fairway is an XDV7. Higher launching shaft. Perfect for a 5 wood or higher lofted 3 wood (14.5) Shots go high and soft, easy to work with a fade or draw, whichever shot is called for. Smooth!

CHIII - Limited Edition... This is a beast and should not be attempted by anyone with less than 115+ mph swing speed. With out a doubt the lowest launching driver shaft I have ever hit. (And I played a Harrison 1.4 low launch back in the day.) This would probably be a great 3 or strong 4 wood shaft. Too much for me in a driver. Only 75-78 grams but man is it stiff! Tip stiff, mid section stiff, butt stiff, just stiff!

XVS9 - So far it's love/hate for me. The tip is softer than I expected for a hybrid. I hit either a perfect high shot, which is what I want in my Hybrid, or a 20 yard hook that goes 30 yards deep. Could be my lack of skills/practice. Verdict is still out on this one, but the launch seems higher than expected, higher than the XVS6/7/8 I'd say. Maybe it was not tipped correctly for a Hybrid. Always hard to tell with tour pulls. I hit one of these in a tour issue Burner TP once, man was it smooth. Heavy and smooth, felt like a lot of power behind the ball.

I have the Titleist Vodoo shaft in stiff and its performance is great. I think a stronger hitter might find it weak to flex though. I have a very smooth tempo and only 94mph driver ss. It suits me fine, and is the smoothest feeling driver shaft I have ever hit. It has very tight dispersion, and make for nice boring, perfect trajectory drives.

The 909 D2 head rocks too!

Here' my feedback on the comparison of a Titileist Voodoo and a Adilia VS Proto... Very recently switched from a the Titleist Voodoo S to a VS Proto 65S to see/feel the difference with my new 909 D2 9.5 driver head. The VooDoo had a mid to lower and tigher trajectory than the VS Proto. The VS has that mid to high carry kick point. I would love to install an interchanging connector to change out when needed for the course conditions.

anyone have info on the xpp7 versus the xvs7, I currently have a whiteboard 63x in a 9064 adams. I like the combo am always looking for better and just purchased a tour issue F11 head and looking for a similar shaft to whiteboard. Good deals on the Aldila just don't know which to try. SS 117 but dropping due to 44 years old.

XVS7 - put this into an R9 sleeve for use in my 3/4 woods rotation and have been very pleased. Mid launch and the spin fits me well. Tight dispersion and very solid feel. The feel is probably the most significant benefit from the shaft; hard to describe other than solid and smooth.

XVS9 - for use in my hybrid. Again, I love the solid feel. Feels like I can step on it and have no worries about getting off line. Produced a high ball flight and probably a little more spin than I really want, but its very close... I did tip it 1/2" for use in an R9 hybrid.

SVS8 - came stock in my R9 TP hybrid. Good shaft, but a little soft and lighter than I wanted. Hit some very good shots with it, but also would hit a few that balloned and came down 15-20 yards shorter than normal. I had to have my timing be a little better than I do with the XVS9 mentioned above. I can't go after one without a little concern of the driving hook.

Can anyone give me specs on the XVR7?

Picked it up on eBay. Got a good deal. Just wondering because I can't really find details on this one.

Thanks!
