"Tour" Spin Milled Wedges on Ebay????

or a little scam?

Sorry for posting this to those who are watching, but it smells fishy to me:

RARE Titleist Vokey Spin Milled Wedges (Tour Van) NEW!!

I asked how to tell if they were tour, what markings were on the hosels? and got the reply, nothing stamped on hosels, I know they're tour b/c the guy who gets them says they are.

Now I'm no Titleist tour wedge hound, but I know easyyy and champx have good insight as do some of the rest of you. I've seen four sets of Titleist tour wedges....all of them had stamps on the hosels. Also, the black finish on the faces is the same color as on the rest of the wedge--usually a dead giveaway of an aftermarket job.

So, Titleist experts.....tour, or not?

Probably just retail wedges with a Black Oxide finish on them - a tour wedge would normally have TC stamped on the hosel, or different stampings somewhere on the wedge. I call fake (just retail w/ after market finish), but I'm no expert.

The general consensus from another forum was that these wedges were refinished. I must admit they do look good but doubt the authenticity of them being from the tour.

Definitely a case of caveat emptor...

100% for sure a refinish. When he had his first set listed, I emailed him and he said there were serial numbers on the hosels!

I asked this guy where he got these at and he told me that he had a "friend" that had access to tour items. They look similar to mine. I have been the one on eBay lately selling Spin Milleds that have been refinished in 3X Black Oxide with the Red and Gold Paintfill, but I do not claim them as being tour. I just think they look really nice and give someone the "look what I have and you don't" ability. Here is a picture of one of mine.

I sent the seller an email and he told me they do have a serial number but that does not mean anything. I would call these fake

That's a guy on one of these golf boards....forget which. Playing characteristics won't change much, realistically, just the look, imo.

When I have mine refinished in 3X Black they have to first be sent to someone to strip the chrome. They use an electro process which gives the wedge a raw look. It basically just removes the chrome finish from the wedge. As far as making the grooves bigger, I suppose it would, but it wouldn't be that substantial.

I really want to try out a "Tour issue" wedge but seeing all of these scams scares me! The last thing i want to do is spent 200 bucks on a retail wedge. Is there a better place to look other than ebay?

The wedge in the link is chrome, but someone sanded the chrome with fine grit sandpaper to give it a "satin" look.....NOT tour at all
