Title says it all. What swingweight do you have your irons set to?
What is your typical fault (slice, draw, push, pull...)?
What is your, say, 6 iron carry distance?

I am female golfer and here are my answers:

 

Swingweight - D0

Typical ball flight - baby draw (but can work it both ways)

6 iron - 155 yards

D6 in SW, LW

My normal miss with each club is a pull.

This has been a concern for me of late. Checked mine recently and they were only C7. I'm gonna go in to the city Sunday and buy some lead tape and start experimenting.

Swing Weight, It Ranges in the set from D3-D5, my old drive was a E-1

Fault, Pull or High Push fade.

6 iron carry is about 183-185

I think my 6 iron is somewhere around a D8 or D9 due to overlength of 1in. My typical carry on a 6 iron is 175 as I've stop trying to swing hard at all. I used to be able to hit my 6 iron 200+. Normal flight is straight, misses can be thin or fat but mostly a slice

My swing speed for my 6 iron last time i was on a monitor was about 92 I think conistently and I hit it 185 - 190 usually. I think every set I have ever had were just bought either retail or through the college program when I was playing in school so I guess they have always been D2 in the irons and D4 in the wedges. With my numbers should I look into getting my next set a little heavier? I know it is a feel thing too, but what weight is more typical for my stats? Thanks!

I carry a stock 6 iron about 175 yards. I'm comfortable working the ball either way, but my natural shot is a very slight draw. My typical mishit tends to be a little off the toe and occasionally a little heavy.

I like my irons at D-2. My bad shot is over-doing the draw a bit if the tempo gets too fast. Result of not playing x-stiff maybe, but getting too old to thump it with the young guns. 6 -iron (32 degree) goes 177 on a nice day.

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if having clubs too light may lead to a tendency to get too handsy, but there are some folks here with higher weights where a fault is a hook. I don't think there is any clear trend here, basically all comes down to swing I suppose?

That's pretty much the question I was trying to answer with the anecdotal data. How does one go about determining proper swingweight? Feel alone or swing/launch monitor testing?

Hit lots of shots with clubs of different swingweights and see which ones feel/perform the best.

 

An obvious answer, but that's mine.
