Those are sharp. Another great looking TM forged player cavity like the 04 RAC CB, 05 TP CB, 07 R7 Forged, 08 TP Forged. TM -- keep them coming.

 

If my 07s were not a firmly intrenched in my bag, I would be all over those.

 

I will spare the group another rant on why it is that TM now only releases these type clubs in Japan and Europe and gives the the US market cast clubs with goofy graphics in the cavity.

Looks like the just moved the TP badge to the top and ditched the milled face for these. Almost identical looking to teh TP forged 2008

Very nice, but look just like last years with a different TP logo.

 

Maybe it's just the pictures, but the new ones appear a little more "boxy" or square toe, and the sole appears slightly wider.

 

I think I'll stick with these.....

i play these irons as well, can't believe how solid they are, so far everything else i've tried from the last year hasn't really come close to feeling as solid for me as these do. those tp forged irons look pretty nice, but don't japanese irons have some sort of weird reverse offset to the set that makes them play weird? i remember reading something about that in a thread a while back about the 2008 tp forged irons.

There is nothing "weird" about the offset of the 08 TP's. They are progressive from long to short irons, with more offset in the long irons.

 

People confuse face progression with offset.

If they are anything like the 08 Forged TP, they will be very soft, but yet solid.

 

I was never a fan of the AP2's, always felt a little weird to me. I do not care for artificially dampened irons, which the AP2 has with its chamber.

They sure didn't break any new ground between 08 and 09. Appears they just moved the logo from the toe to the middle of the weight pad and did away with the milled face.

 

Remind a lot of the Tourstage CB iron (don't remember which model - 202?) from a couple of years ago. That's a good thing, though. That iron was much loved among purists.

I actually saw these in my hands at the Japan Golf Fair 09'. Yes, it's just a 05' rac TP with different cosmetics and a tad little change in the looks otherwise it's not much different to either the 05' TP or last years TP irons. I know the vice president of TM USA(Aswell as President in TM Japan), and he was also saying that TM is really running out of ideas when making new clubs. Especially their irons. After they released the first rac series in 03', nothing really special came out... Like their game improvement line has always been a rac OS with different design features on the back with XD's and DRAWs and PLUSs on the name of the model (360XD, Burner, Burner XD, r7 plus blahblah). Didn't they re-release a rac MB TP which had a smoke finish and that was the only improvement or change from the original rac MB TP?

 

 

I still think the 300s, original rac CBs and the firesoles were TMs peak in terms of irons :russian_roulette:

After pulling my 08 Forged TP out of the bag, it appears that the 09 has a higher and wider weight pad. Whether that is just optics or fact, I cannot tell. If it is so, I wonder if it will bring ball flight down. I think the ball flight on the 08's is almost perfect for me.

 

I believe TM continues to miss the boat by not offering these in the US. If you look at the PGA bag photos, quite a few players still bag the 05 TP musclebacks. I think Rory S. put the 05's in his bag this year, if I recall correctly.

 

It's not like TM has a problem with offering selection. Their US website has almost a dozen different models and not a single CB forged.

 

My main beef with most of their product offerings (forged MB's excluded), is the graphics. They all look like Ronald McDonald barfed up a happy meal. All sorts of weird colors, graphics and stickers.

I was told that Faldo is designing a forged iron that will be available in the US by mid summer.
