Titleist News

I just talked to the local Titleist Rep and he had some great news.

Irons to be released the 1st week of August:

735.CM

660

695 Series (MB and CB)

Hybrids to be released later(date not said):

503I- It will be much different from the pics seen here. He said that it will be a players club though.

The 503U, which has been seen on this website will not be released until next year due because of TaylorMade's recent release of their Rescue Dual.

Woods:

Nothing special except that the F3-05 (I believe thats what he called it) will stay tour issue.

Wedges:

There is a chance that Titleist will open up their Spin Milled line to include lofts 48, 50, 52, 54.

The last I heard, the Oil Can SM was a pretty good possibility. :vava: I doubt however that you will see the 48, 50, or 52 in a SM anytime soon, if ever. If it's not being played on the tour, you won't see it, and last time I looked, most Tour players or good Am's would not want that much spin on an approach wedge. The 695's are somewhat puzzling. In the Spring sales meetings, there was a lot of concern with overlap, something they have been trying to eliminate (690, 680, 670). The original idea was to limit the new line to about 4 sets ie.. 660, 695MB, 735, and the 704/804 replacement. It seems like I get a different story from my boss everytime he comes back from a sales meeting, but what else is new.

Golow, good call on the 503U, I have heard the same. But after my previous statement I don't know if that is a good thing or not. :D

54° Spin Milled will be released soon. "Probably" not on lower lofts.

Actually, the Spin Milled PW's are in the bags of a few players, and many players, including Ernie Els, have asked for their PW's in their irons to have deeper groves for more spin. The reason being for Ernie doing this is that Ernie is long off the tee but not straight, so he needs something that can spin out of the rough. I guess if he's in the fairway he'll hit either a shot with less spin or hit an easy or 3/4 9 iron. Plus, the Spin Milled PW's don't spin like the other Spin Mills. Yes, they spin more, but I know from an undisclosed source that they spin a little more than a regular PW.

Golow, I think Titleist will open up their Spin Milled to include 54 loft. I hope they put the other lofts either as part of the line or a custom order. My Country Club can't keep the 56, 58 and 60 Spin Mills in stock, due to our firm and fast Champions Bermuda greens so I think the 54,52,50 and 48 may sell more than people may think.

Do you agree?

Just curious if anyone knows if Titleist will be for forgiving in customizing their new irons.

A couple of years ago I wanted to buy a set of 680's and they would not let me buy them from the factory a inch over standard and they would only "guarantee" bending them 6 degrees upright.

Being 6"6" my specs are 1.34 inches over standard and about 9 degrees upright.

I was forced to buy mizuno's who was more than happy to bend my MP 37's however much I wanted.

I guess I could have bought the titleist and reshafted and bent them myself but that seemed like alot of cost for really the same product as the mizuno's.

As a result, I am very skeptical of going back to Titliest, plus I love my MP-37's.

They are definately releasing the SM in 54°. They are debating the very point you make above in regards to lower loft offerings. I'd personally buy them down to the 48° loft since I never like any PW from an iron set as much as the shape of a Vokey 48° or 50°.

I've recently heard from a couple of people that the 735cms are coming early August, but the 695 mb and cb are coming some number of months afterward. I'd love to have all three released early August so I can compare the 735s to the 695cb.

Not gonna happen. The 735 heads are all made and stockpiled as are the bulk of the 660's. Very few 695's have been churned out.
