OFFICIAL MIZUNO PICS - MP-630 Fast Track

Great pics, looking forward to seeing those clubs in person. It has been a long time since I had a Mizuno driver, time for me to have another look.

They definitely look nice and I am looking forward to try them.

Having played the MP600 for the last couple of seasons I was impressed with ballflight, feedback, sound and looks but not so much with the fast track system and forgiveness (and headcover). I recently decided to go back to Callaway again for some added forgiveness and distance. I wonder if the fast track system and forgiveness improved on the MP630, the headcover definitely is! I don't like an open face, that is a bummer.

The fairwaywoods look really nice but my V-steel is so freakin good that Mizuno needs to bring a lot to the table to kick my V-steel out of the bag. Also the small size is not my cup of tea. I can imagine it is good for overall usability but because I am not hitting fairwaywoods of the deck anymore I only need a backup driver. Perhaps if I where to ad a little 4 or 5 wood...

I would look at the new Adams Speedline FAST 10 Strong 3-wood too; Adams makes a solid fairway metal and this is supposed to be their best to date. I hope to hit it this week.

I got a chance to hit these today, the rep just picked up his samples this morning.

Driver - Great clean shape. Very sharp at address. The fast track system now goes more from heal to toe and all the way around the back of the clubhead. Clubface did not look to be shut at address on the 10.5 sample i was hitting. At impact the club made a great, solid sound. Very quiet compared to most drivers these days. This is still not a driver for every player. It will be popular with the good players who like something that looks good and is still playable for non-pros. Finally, Mizuno realized that the "exsar" shaft was a huge draw back in their wood line. The addition of the Mitsi Fubuki is nice. This might help level the playing field with other companies.

3 Wood - WOW! This thing is bad-freaking-a**! It is like a TEE on steriords! LOL. Even though the sample he has was a 15 with a regular shaft I was hitting it nearly as far as the driver with a low ball flight and plenty of roll. Seriously, i was cranking out 265yd shots with this thing over and over! From the top it looks great, very compact and simple. No silly decals or alignment aids. Same as with the driver, ditching the "exsar" for the Fubu is a great idea! Well done Mizuno.

Hybrid - Much improved but I still dont think Mizuno will sell a boat load of these things. I did not get a chance to hit this one as i was short on time but it looks great and sets up very nicely.

Overall, I think Mizuno will have a strong product to bring to the market but it is always going to be tough to get people to try their woods. Still just an iron company in my opinion. More offerings like this and that could certainly change!

Can anyone comment on whether the shaft in the 3 wood is a made for or is it a real Fubuki
I could be wrong but any "made for" fubuki I have come across has the red lettered fubuki script like the one in the photo provided - ala callaway.

My genuine aftermarket fubuki shaft has a darker script.

I'm SICK that they won't make this in lefty. REALLY? I want a good tour-style driver that would have a slightly open and deep face. I guess I'll continue to search for a good D2 or D3...

I was at show, here is what I found out:

Shafts are "made for" and here are specs

Driver shaft for both
R 59g 4.5
S 61g 4.5
X 66g 4.0

Fairway
R 68g 4.5
S 71g 4.5
X 74g 4.0

They all had very high torque and you could feel how soft they were.

Fairways are very solid, best 5 wood head I have seen in a while, it will be in my bag.

Pricing quoted was:

MP-630 $299

MP-630 FT $499 (200 dollar jump, seemed high)

MP Fairway $249

For me, the MP-630 w/o FT is the way to go, just put a better shaft in that head and you will have a very nice driver, very traditional looking and clean.

250 with weak shafts = not good...put a better shaft and I would buy.

Wow. That's heck of a price jump. Looks like I'll be trading my backups and old sets and whatever else I can throw back LOL

I hit the Fairway at the show and it was a BOMBER!!!!!!! i hit it at the show with the made for mizuno fubuki x-stiff and as for the shaft it felt a tad whippy but as for the head it was amazing! it might actually kick the s9-1 pro out of the bag and just slide a real fubuki 83 x right in there drinks.gif

Glad they are offering a 4 wood. I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a TEE XCG-3 4w before I stumbled across this. I'll wait to try this one.

 • 4 weeks later...

There's two drivers - one with the weights and one basically the same spec as the neutral setting but solid. Around £250 and £200 in UK.

They offer all sorts of shafts for these - not just the fubuki (avixcore, graffaloy etc) at least in Europe pretty sure with no upcharge.

MP Titanium FW might be perfect--going to demo one this weekend. I saw the whole line in person earlier this week and the FW sets up great, looks very square to my eye but actually just a bit open. As long as it's friendly to hit off the deck this will make it into the bag

Yeah for some reason Mizuno have decided that Americans don't want a 4 wood....

Just like they don't want the black ni 68s...

Who knows how these decisions are made
Heh! Actually I do. Mizuno US is a different business unit to Mizuno Europe and while they share the same product line they can have their own versions. For example, when Mizzy EU decided to go with the Bl-Ni finish, Mizzy US were not oblige to do the same and have caught a bit of flak for it.

I saw this line in GS the other day and they are some damn good looking clubs. I was looking real hard at that CLK because im wanting to add a new hybrid to the bag. I didnt get a chance to hit it because I was kind of short on time, but Im going to make a trip back within the next couple days. I hope it feels as good as it looks!

They're available for pre-orders in the UK now. Snainton Golf has the drivers for £249 and £199, FW is £149 and hybrid is £119 with a decent choice of shafts available at no extra cost. The non-adjustable driver with an Axivcore red or black at under 200 is pretty solid value for money for a new better players driver...

Here's some pics of the MP Titanium 3 wood--137cc, 15* loft w/ the stock Fubuki 74 stiff shaft. You gotta love the baseball-like stitching on the front of the headcover too, nice touch
