I don't remember anyone having a camera. We were ill-prepared in that regard.

I shot 79 (thank you, 3 jack par on 18 )/81. I think TDK & his buddy both broke 80 the first round. Didn't hear about the 2nd. It sounds like odshot is a player, but I didn't hear what he shot in either round.

My group played from the 2 tee, which was 6600 yds. I wanted to play the tips, but they wanted to do a skins game and a putting game, so I obliged and played from the 2nd tee.

I shot 76 the first round, didn't make a double, and didn't 3 putt, and had zero penalties. The other players in my group shot 75 and 92. Tom Smallwood, the pro bowler shot the 75.

2nd round, I shot 76, didn't make a double, 3 putted twice on 11 and 13, no penalties. It was a better round, that could have been spectacular if I made my 10 foot eagle putt on 7, and made birdie on the drivable 17th hole. Give or take some putts that barely missed, it could have been great. Stats were solid too.

10/18 - gir
32 putts
39 - 37 = 76

round 1
9/14 - fways
9/18 - greens
30 putts
39 - 37 = 76

birdies - rd 1 - 2 (7,17)

rd 2 - 3 (7, 14, 18)

I didnt have anything worse than a bogey, no lost balls, no penalties. I hit the ball well off the driver, irons were solid, chipping/pitching was avg, putting was above avg. I really had the speed down, and I barely missed about 7 putts, about a full rev from going in, line was perfect, which is attributal to the consistency of the greens and the trueness of the breaks. Best greens I'll putt on this year.

Best/funniest shot of the day for me -- 2nd round, #5, long par 5. After my approach inexplicably came up short of the flag in a collection area at the front of the green, my first putt didn't make it all the way up the really steep hill, and rolled back actually farther away than I was for my last putt (just in the rough actually). Not happy, I gave it another whack, and holed it for my par. I hate/love this game.

Orginizing one a year is enough for me. If someone else does the work, i'll be there.

I'd love to get a second (or I guess third) crack at this course....I played the tips both times, and it ate me up. I don't recall hitting many short irons into greens, unless it was a 3rd or higher shot From the tips, it was about 600-700 yards more than I normally play. Wish I'd have played 1 up the 2nd time around. Oh well, just another excuse to play there again.

 

I forget what I actually shot, but it was somewhere north of bogey golf, mostly because of my inability to stay away from the sand, and subsequently get out in one shot.

I didn't play amazing by any means and I shot 76 and 75. From 6,600 yds. I wish I would have played from the tips. It felt like I didn't have too many 4 and 5 irons into greens. The next time I play this course, I'm definitely playing from the tips.

All this talk about Forest Dunes has me salivating. I will be up that way the weekend of June 12 and 13. If anyone has interest in playing at Forest Dunes on June 13th( early in the morning) let me know. If not I may have to go out alone just to play this track.

Is it true that Forest Dunes may go private? I was raving about it to one of my regular playing partners, and he said it was heading that way.....Jeff, can you confirm?

I was told that the original plan for this course was to go private. They would only take public play while they built their membership. I heard this years ago though.

Yes, the goal is to go private. I don't know what the [i]magic number [/i]of members is to go private. Mike, as long as I'm a member you can play anytime you want, you know how to get ahold of me.

How about today at 4:00? Mike from North Carolina {onebowtie} has been playing in northern michigan all weekend.
