I really want a Newport Studio Stainless 2.5 but didnt really want the lime green from top to bottom...guess i could sell the headcover? Is $550 a little steep or right on target?

It seems pricey to me.

 

Look around and see what that putter has gone for without customization, then price the customization at the Custom Shop, and you've got your comparison total.

 

True, it'll take longer, but you can get it customized to what YOU want, rather than what some other guy did to make a profit.

It looks like to me this guy just wants to cover the cost of his purchase and custom work. Actual putter not worth it but if you have the money and like lime then buy it.

i'm gonna say pricey too, plus, do you want the putter to look like that? for less than that you could pick one up and get it customized the way you want it.

The Custom Shop will not do that change. The following are changes they will do the an original putter.

 

FINISH.......Terylliums, Blue, Oil Cans, Black Oxide to Pro Platinum finishes.

STAMPS.......Yin Yang, $, Custom Shop, up to 4 initials. sight line or sight dot.

GRIPS.....Mulitple Grip Choices

LOFT/LIE...will adjust back to original or 1 to 2 degrees up or fllat.

 

Other then those, they will not alter a putter from it's original design.

 

Two guys who could probably do the neck change for you is Tom Slighter or Byron Morgan...but it would probably be a lot easier to just buy the 2.5. Plus...you wouldn't lose any value on your putter. :)

Like most collectibles, the big money in putters is for factory originals. Any restoration or customization work, even when done by the factory, tends to either reduce the value or not raise it enough to get your money back.

 

It's like a classic car. A factory 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 will always be worth way more than a 1973 Porsche 911S that has been modified to look like an RS., even if you completely rebuilt it using RS parts. Just the fact that it didn't roll from the floor that way reduces the value by tens of thousand. In fact, the 911S is now worth less because it has been modified and a collector will have to spend money to get it back to original.

 

So if you are thinking resale, never modify. Even if you make the putter look exactly the same as the model you are emulating, it will not be the same. That's the why the rare models are worth more.

 

Customize to enjoy, sure. But don't expect to get your money back, and never pay big bucks for a Cameron (or any other collectible) unless it is original. A Tour Circle T would be worth more unrestored than it would restored and customized.

You could get yourself one used and send it out and have it come back for ~400

No, get some paint thinner and a push pin and get all the paint off the putter, by scrapping the paint with the push pin. Then get the thinner and rub it along the paint areas. A few applications of thinner and push pin should do the trick.

 

Then go out and get some model paint in florescent green and paint fill it. You can find Studio Grips on e-Bay for $150 to $200, and maybe a green headcover for another $150.

 

This is what they call a poor boy's Cameron.

 

I did just that and used black and red as paint fills and then bought a BABY T Winn grip for $50. This cost me a total of $245 for the putter grip and paint.
