From what I have heard from some people, is that Luke is testing an 11 degree TEE XCG-V Tour Spec to use as his driver. The CB2 that he has been carrying for a little while, he really likes, but hits it further than his Mizzy woods.

Beyond the stats he is also a tremendous embassador to the sport of golf and raises substantial sums of money for charity.

He's a top player coming back from a wrist injury who still had a solid season. As for the woods, he's testing them.

He has the SuperTri in play this week as well as going to Tour Issue S400 TT instead of S300

Interesting how he apparently played/plays a X-stiff driver shaft that's tipped 1.5 inches yet plays S300/400 iron shafts. I play X-stiff in my woods and S300's in my irons as well, but tipping 1.5 inches would make it very stout indeed.

Shame for Mizuno that Luke doesn't play the MP-630 Fast Track driver. It's a top piece of equipment - but it will continue going under the radar if their most prominent staff player doesn't use it.

Tour pros don't all hit it as far as is so often hyped up. This season, the average was just under 285 yards, with only 7 guys averaging over 300. Those numbers include roll, so it doesn't take Einstein to work out that only a handful carry it more than 280. Rest assured, Luke isn't one of them

I'm guessing he must be one of only a handful of guys using S300s on tour.

actually i think most people would be suprised on the number of guys that play s300 on tour. im not saying that the majority do but they arent all big hitters and some opt for a softer shaft b/c they dont want to hit their irons they swing them. jb holmes used to play and s400 which realistically isnt much stiffer than an s300

The particular driver shaft that was listed was a Fuji Fit-on Z-com 6 or something like that. Not all graphite shafts are created equal - and the one listed might be softer than some of the X shafts that you are thinking of.

Also, when looking at the 907 and 909 drivers, the hosel is pretty high, and the insertion depth might not be too much, so tipping 1-1/2" would get the shaft to play as it would untipped in an older through-bore head, which he might prefer.

tiger's average driving distance at the 2006 open didn't even include a driver in his stat, and that was factored into overall drive average.
