Endo forged

Ok so currently I am playing the Callaway Proto's and love them, however I am looking for a set of clubs to start the season and end the season. I have been through Miura, and they are a little diggy for me, so i would like some bounce.

I am currently looking:
Epon 302's and 502's
Taylormade R9 TP's - I am reluctant here becasue TM has lost its way, but people who have hit these irons say they are wonderful

Maybe Miura 501's because I hear they dont dig as much.

I think the perfect combination of blade flight and cavity forgiveness comes in the form of the Tourstage Z101.

We spoke about Miura before, and I ended up going with the Z101's, and I am extremely happy with them.

Tourstage x-blade 701 endo forged with a lot of technology and they are cheap now.

I was referring to the 701's that have a magnesium insert not the new 703's that have tungsten insert. The X-blades I owned are in the top 3 best feeling irons I have played. Unfortunately the X-blade also had a very sharp leading edge and I dug tunnels with them. The CB's grind is softer and not as sharp.

I have to jump on the Tourstage bandwagon as well!

Z101 or TS-202

The Z101 if you are looking for a more bladelike cavity back or the TS-202 for more forgiveness. I have both and can't see myself making a change.

Z101 when I'm swinging well and TS-202 when I need some help.

Both are also Endo forged so the quality is great.

I'll echo the endorsement of the TS-202s. Mine have Tour Concepts, and they are simply outstanding. Forgiveness, playability, and great feel.

my comment was based on the fact that Taylor Made is diluting their brand by coming out with new stuff every three months.

They both are an older model, I believe the 101's were the only released Tourstage iron sold in the US.

Thanks 4470, I've hit just about every titleist forged irons in the last 10 years, and some US mizuno models, and I really prefer my 2008 Japan TP Forged over the others. I don't really how often they come out with new stuff, it appears that they update the players forged cavitites about once a year.. 2009 TP Forged, R9 TP Forged (2010). The other so called TP stuff look altogether to me and don't have any interest in them.

I just got rid of my Miuras (CB202) and had a chance to go with the 501's. I hit them at my local pro shop and frankly, they weren't that much easier to hit than the 202's. I opted for a brand new set of OnOff irons. Best decision of 2010! Gives great feedback and the shafts (NSPro 950) that came with the sticks aren't too shabby. I even had the lie adjusted w/o making any dimple or dent marks from the bending machine. Good luck in your search!

The TS202 and Z101 are pretty old models, TSG usually carries only the latest and last year's models.

The Z101 is a great iron however not very forgiving and is not for diggers.

TS-202's and Z101's!? Good luck finding those, they must be 10 years old now. If you want some outstanding blade-like Endo forged cavity backs that are as good as anything you can get, try a set of Bridgestone J33's. Oh, it just so happens I have a set on BSG right now that have been played once with covers and are only $279, an absolute bargain. Sorry for the shameless plug, but these are outstanding clubs regardless of the bargain price.

I was a Tourstage guy for many years, and loved my TS-202, until I found a set of Epon 501s. In my opinion the Epons look better at set up and are just as forgiving as the TS-202s. The only thing about the Epon 501 is that they are long (and I've de-lofted the set) something I need to get used to possibly pick up a set of Epon AF-302, they look awesome!

I got to demo the Epon 302 about 10-days ago, and could not believe how solid that club was. So, being a bad iron player I went for a combo set of the Epon 701 and 502 irons. I got the 701's in 4-7 irons, and the 502's in 8-PW. Now, I'm waiting for them to arrive...

you should check out the Hakusa CB , it is not endo forged , it is Kyoei Forged which is as good if not better. They have a great grind on the sole to keep from digging. If my stupid camera worked I would show you a pic. Although I know there are pics on Soflahacks in the Hakusa thread.

I haven't hit a beter feeling and performing iron than the Epon 302's. soft, soild and beautiful to look at. I had the 101's, similar feel but a much better sole design, the Z101's really dig.

Haven't tried a tourstage iron but i've tried pretty much the rest and my vote goes for epon. Any model, great irons period. All endo forged in japan if i'm not mistaken.

Of all the irons I've ever tried, the MR23 US SPEC Tourstage irons are the best combo of looks, feel and forgiveness. Kind of a snob when it comes to irons too.....the 2010 tourstage irons with the blade cavity look like something worth trying out. MR23 kind of rare, but you will find a set if you are patient. 1500 sets made.
