HAHA I feel much better knowing it's not just me that hates Berman announcing the US Open. I like him doing the daily sports report, but he never seems to just shut up while doing the US Open. You don't have to talk all the time.

Personally, I would rather hear Berman doing the broadcast than Johnny Miller like I am having to listen to this weekend. Mr Negative should be his real name cause no one ever does anything right on the course or how Johnny would have done it himself. It makes me not wanna watch golf regardless of the tournament being played

Someone please explain the logic of showing a 15 minute story on Arnie's hat when there is golf actually taking place? Why don't they make a whole show of this schlocky sentimental crap and put it on 30 minutes before coverage? Isn't it cheaper for NBC just to show golf shots... the reason we are all tuning in?

Berman is annoying and I do not like Johnny Miller's big ego, but boy, what I would give to hear either of the two right now. Here in Austria, all I get at the moment is some kind of strange "International Feed" obviously, in which one boring guy talks from a studio and only tells me things I see on the screen anyway. It only used to be that way during the commercial breaks in the US, but now it has been like this continuously for an hour or so.
The only alternative would be the German commentary, which is so bad, one cannot even begin to describe it. Most of the time it is from a guy who is allegedly a teaching professional who was an instructor to the German amateur team, but can't even tell the difference between a pull and a hook.

I am sure we have all heard the interview when they asked him to pronounce it and he said "YO" yet I still here these commentators pronounce his name Ree-O all the time. Why is that? Dont they get paid to know these guys names?

So far, Woods has caused(at least to hear NBC go on about him):

Himself to shoot 66.
His gallery's roar to mess Dustin Johnson.
The sun to stay out a little later on the West Coast.

There's about 90 minutes left in the broadcast. My guess it's even odds for him to see to it the oil spill in the gulf is cleaned up by then. Hopefully he does it by 10:45, because they need to keep talking about him, but someone might think going over his round for the 40th time in the previous 2 hours might get some people upset for doing it again in the last 15 minutes instead of showing the guys who are finishing.

Asleep - I didn't see your comment before I posted, but I couldn't agree more. You must have seen that segment he did on Golf Channel. Feinstein obviously has an anti-Tiger agenda - probably because Tiger turned down one of his overrated book ideas.

He does the same thing here in DC on local sports radio. We're like, "You hate Tiger. We get it. What did he do to you or your sister to make you hate him so much? Talk about something else!" Geez! It's old already!

Tbowles- Exactly. I remember him appearing on the Jim Rome show in the earlier part of the decade and he was anti-Tiger then, too. I'm sorry you have to put up with him on your local sports radio.

For someone who hates Tiger so much, he sure does follow his every move and hangs on every comment.

If Johnny Miller had a nickel for every time he said "local knowledge" he'd be rich. Also, one of the commentators said something to the effect that if the line and speed was right on a putt it had a good chance of going in.

On Saturday Miller said that "few people know this, but when the air is heavier the ball won't go as far" after a player came up short on his approach.

I'd rather listen to him all day than: Berman/Maltby/and a few others? Mafrk Lye on the golf channel has no business being on tv as an "analyst", sorry. The guy's won 1 tournament on tour, has NEVER contended for a majopr...so how is he qualified to tell us how it feels to be in the thick of things during a major, if he himself, has never been in that situation?

Faldo puts me to sleep, but is MUCH better than Berman. Strange is actually a nice change from Johnny Miller. I like Johnny...just get sick of hearing the same stuff over and over again on air from him. To this day, I still dont know what "ooohhh, he's chunked it" means?

Oh so true. It's the Olympics-type crap. JUST SHOW US GOLF! I've come to expect to suffer through inevitable segments about the magnificence of Pebble Beach, and interrupting play with previous highlights (guess what NBC -- anyone sitting on his rear at 9pm EST watching your coverage KNOWS how Phil played, yesterday), but this Arnold's visor story was a new low.

Johnny Millers comment on "who's leaking more oil, the leaders or BP" was 100% classless.
I am not a fan of his to start with but I respect his commentary and opinions as he in fact has "been there and done that" on tour/majors.
Very insensitive and I hope he gets reprimanded for
it.

I have to agree a reprimand is not going to be forthcoming--- There have certainly been some tasteless comments from many a golf announcer but the way I saw it there was indeed a lot of black gold soiling the turf.
