Why the .355 taper?

Is it for a hybrid? then just have a .370 reduced like I did.

It works fine. :drinks:

The VS Proto 60 does launch the ball higher like the 553.

Good shaft choice for low ball hitter.

VS users, I am going to place an order for the new Ping Rapture driver and need to better understand this shaft for fitting purposes. I have played a stiff NVS, a tipped R NV (which may be a tad soft) and think my mid to high 90's swing is right in the middle. I like feeling a little kick, so what are your thoughts on the VS, Stiff or Regular. BTW, I am not completely sure if the Ping is a blind bore or not... thanks.

How would you compare the VS Proto 60 series to the Diamana 60's and the Ozik Altus, especially for smoothness? Recovering from elbow surgery, these are the 3 shafts at the top of my list to go in an FT-3 and/or Rapture head.

would like to know as well. i have a diamana 60 S and am really contemplating on a shaft change.

i can compare vs proto 70 with altus as i have both shafts in a ft-3

altus has higher ball flight but vs proto feels "tighter"...distance-wise they are about the same.

I know "feel" is difficult to describe, and you may not care about it. I have only hit the Diamana 63, and it was smoother than anything I've ever hit - it almost felt like I missed the ball. I've heard Ozik's are even smoother than Diamana's, and that the Proto is at least comparable. You say the Proto feels "tighter" - is that more stable, slightly harsher, stiffer tip, or just something you can't describe? Can you tell me which shaft you would keep if "feel" was the only criteria?!

i also had the diamana 73 in the exact same setup as the ozik altus and vs proto 70 (what a ho!). i would say that the vs proto and diamana "feel" similar. both feel like they have a stiffer tip over the ozik and more "stable". i would also say slightly "harsher", but that is only b/c it feels "tighter". the ozik feels that if i go after it, there would be more left/right miss than with the vs proto or the diamana.

if you haven't hit an ozik, it's harder to comprehend. i would say the diamana and vs proto feel very similar with both feeling very stable.

btw, my swingspeed is smooth 100 mph and i play stiff.

Just for comparision, what is your speed swing and what flex do you play... :kewlpics:

Thanks for the info. At some point I may have to plunk down the $400 for the Ozik just to see if it's worth it for my elbow. I'm not sure I understand your left right miss feeling with the Ozik, though, assuming you are right handed. That would be a fade, and if the Diamana and Proto feel tighter, I would think you are suggesting the Ozik feels "looser", and the usual miss with a looser shaft would, I think, be a draw/hook?

In the interim, it sounds like I can order a Rapture with a Proto. If the Proto feels like a Diamana, with a slightly lower ballflight, I think that would suit me perfectly.

May be a dumb question, but what does the "by you" mean?

When combined with the blue color it adds up to Blue (blew) by you! A reference to what your drives will be doing to your playing partners golf balls.

Not only that, Kiran, but it is also one of my favorite songs "Blue Bayou" for you younger guys! Man, I love trivia pursuit!

I am very interested in this shaft but now am also curious about the Bi Matrix Prototype. (thanks Boak)

Can anybody relate the difference between those 2 shafts.

Thanks

Ask Drew. He has a BiMatrix Proto as well (in pink) in his driver.

The BiMatrx is tricky in determining swingweight and tipping because of the steel tip. I play my drivers at 44.5" and was expecting to load up on lead tape to make my G5 measure out at D2 with the BiMatrx - because of the light head. What I found is that at that length, it measured D4 without tip weights or lead tape - so I trimmed 1/4" off and now play 44.25" at D2. I found the BiMatrx to be very consistent but short in comparison to the VS Proto. I feel like the VS gives me better roll but is just as consistent - launch is similar.

What driver were you playing last time I played with you an R5? What shaft did you have in it?

How much more distance would you say you squeeze out of it?
