Aldila VS Proto "By You" Shaft

A lot of players including myself have questioned whether Aldila could make a shaft that would rival the super premium shafts like the Fuji's, the Matrix's and the Diamana's.

The answer is Yes!

I have played this shaft ( VS Proto 70X ) for a couple of months now in a FT-3 Tour Issue driver and it can handle anything thrown at it. I have owned and hit all of the above named shafts and the VS Proto is as good or better of a performer than the others.

Make no mistake about it, this is not another me too shaft or a blue painted NV. This shaft is very accurate, extremely stable and is very explosive. The VS Proto can hang with any shaft made in raw distance.

IMO, the best trait of this shaft is how smooth it feels for an X flex. It is as easy to swing and load at the end of the round as the first nine.

I have just ordered a VS Proto 80X for a Cally X-Tour 3 wood. This shaft has been in the winners circle several times this year, including the US Open.

If you are looking for a special shaft at a decent price ($180.00 street price), give the VS Proto a try..

The VS Proto is the best fairway shaft I have ever played. Very stable and explosive as well as accurate. I couldnt get it too work for me in a driver, but it is in my fairway woods for sure.

I've had zcom's, a couple of tour fuji's... wanted to like diamana.... for me VS is the best thing I've put in a Driver, and will also install in my up coming Hibore fairway........!!!!!!

Glynn is a straight shooter and you can trust his reviews to be accurate...as a matter of fact, I have ordered the exact same setup as him (FT-3 VS 70 & X TOUR VS 80) and they are shipping this week. Just hope to complete it all by finding a VS 95 HYBRID shaft for the FT-HYBRID!

Not a combination.

 

Plays slightly softer than NV, but not as softs as NVS. Much smoother than either shaft due to nanotubes.

Glynn, I agree. I've got a VS Proto 80 in my 3 wood, and couldn't be happier. Easy to swing and holds up when I go after it. It sure is pretty, too. I don't care for it too much in my driver (like the-long-ball), but it's the bees knees in a fairway.

I've got few VS shafts coming, including VS Proto hybrid 95 shaft that I'll put in my hybrid. Has anyone used NV-105 in their hybrid, if so, how would you compare those shafts?

where did you find the hybrid 95 shaft? i can't find it anywhere!

Don't know exactly what the difference is, but have played the VJ version in a comp tour for the last 8 rounds and it's as good as anything I've shafted up. What I like most about it is that I don't have to step on my drives to get it to sling one out there. I like to play a little flip cut and the shafts loads enough that I'm still left with the usual yardage. Most other shafts leave me one to two clubs short. IMHO, the VS Proto holds its own against all the big boys...

The new Vs proto is a good shaft. Their stock did drop 43% in one day last week. $25.00 per share to $14.00 per share. Hopefully they will have a new shaft for the OEM's to buy.

... performance is very similar. although right between the two in weight, the vs proto hybrid 95 performance and feel is MUCH closer to the nv105 than the nv85 hybrid. at 1.4* of torque it'll take anything you can give it. perhaps just a little higher flight, but it really is a low spin, flat trajectory. the feel of the 95 hybrid shaft is extraordinary. can't wait to hear what you think!!!

I found the ball flight and feel identical to the Code-6. You can have 2 VS or 1 Code 6 = do the math.

 

Tony, you need to go full out with the NV Pro shafts in those irons. Ditch the Nippons!

I'm glad to hear it is so good. Personally I am a HUGE Aldila fan. I love the NV and believe the NVS is perfect for the vast majority of 'average' players. Good reviews of the VS Proto here. I can't wait to try it.

Is the VS Proto a good shaft for high ball hitters? Does it hit lower compared to the V2 and the Diamana assuming same head, length etc? Refering to the 60 plus gram class.

compared to diamana, it hits quite lower for me....same head, grip, etc.

both shafts feel good...with the vs feeling a tad "tighter"

my comparison, though, is with diamana 73 vs vs proto 70
