shaft decision

Just bought 8.5 razr hawk tour with stock x flex. looking at putting in trusty old diamana BB. this shaft suits me pretty well. anyone know how similar the new diamana kaili or ahina are to the BB?

The kai li is very similar to the BB. The ahina launches lower and spins a little less than the either the kai li or BB.

Any good reason why you don't just stick with the Stock Setup? I have the same driver in 9.5 w/X and I don't know that the stock RIP is garbage.

Is it just because you've had success with Mitsubishi in the past or have you actually tried the Mitsu/Cally combo and it was superior?

I'm curious because I guess I would consider changing the shaft in mine, but I have not had the opportunity to try any other shaft in this head.

Have you tried the Graphite Design AD series shafts (Ihear they are quite nice)?

I wish they just stuck with Blueboard, whiteboard, etc. These weird names like kai'li, i'lima, ahina, etc. just confuse the heck out of me. I wonder if they mean something? It's like Hawaiian oe something but I have tried the 910 D2 with the blue stock shaft (kai'li I think?) and it was really a nice shaft. Great ball flight.

I have a 73x Whiteboard in my Razr Hawk Tour. BOMBER!!! I wanted to try the 'ahina in 70x but it isn't a custom option that Callaway offers and I didn't want to deal with getting reshafted by someone aftermarket.

the stock RIP is decent, not garbage at all--not a huge fan of the real one anyway either. Diamana BB has served me to perfection in nearly every driver I have had past couple of years. Thats's what I will probably use but darnit that new kaili just looks better!

Also, have not tried GD AD series. What is the white and orange one everyone seems to be nuts over?

AD DI (deep impact) because TW tried it couple years ago at the Masters.

I'm considering the idea of re-shafting my RHT, but the stock option seems ok so far. Need trim it a bit first, as I'm playing the stock length which is too long.

I've ordered a 9.5 with the Stock rip shaft in Stiff today but could always update the order if a better stock or small upcharge shaft is an option. I swing around 105mph if it has to be the stock rip then would you recommend Stiff or X?

Thank you couldn't find that on Cally Europe's website. Shame it doesn't have the upcharge. BlueBoard or WhiteBoard would be nice.

I'm a Callaway Demo Day Rep, have hit every combination available. Go to the website, find a demo day in your area with Trackman, the $30,000 launch monitor system and go have your numbers checked with the RIP 60 X that came in the Hawk. You will have a great "Baseline" for weather there is a need to change or not. The RIP is a really good shaft, not because I'm on there staff, but because it's a really good shaft with some great features. Although you my love the BB, the RIP is similar in many ways and may be fine for your needs.
Then, once you know where you started, then if your dying to swap it out, you can and you'll know where you started from.
love to know the feedback after you've done so...keep us posted....this head is an animal in the right combination...my new on is a 9.5 Tour w/ Ka'ali 70gr X and the numbers are fantastic...

@Dog, THe Ka'li is supposed to have a slighty firmer tip section, less torque, and launch the ball on the same trajectory with slightly lower spin than the BB. In players words? Hardly different. The AD DI series (Orange w/ white rings) don't correspond to the BB as far as launch/spin characteristics are concerned. The AD DI are usually mid-high trajectory with very low spin. You are gaming an 8.5 w/ a decently strong shaft now, I doubt u want to hit it higher w/ less spin...but if you do, look into the GD. But you are comparing apples to oranges as the BB/Ka'li and AD DI are not meant to create the same ball flight.

I use the Razr Tour and have a Superio 80T X in it, we have a TrackMan so I have tested it pretty thoroughly with different shafts and all have resulted in better numbers for me than the stock RIP. The Razr for anyone with mid to high spin just kills all drivers at the moment regardless of club-head speed, the only problem is getting bloody supply here in NZ they have been out of stock for 5 weeks

Blue Board is a classic shaft. That and the Whiteboard will be just as good as anything out there for years to come. BB or WB is my vote

Hit one with the ahina 70X in it.... didnt like it, felt really soft... So put trusty speeder 757 in... WOW rocket launcher. Just my two cents. I should add that I havent been the ahina's biggest fan. The Kali may be good.

...and Adam Scott is driving the ball better than ever and having a great year with the GD AD...to each their own, but it is awesome and in my opinion much better feel and playability than the cultish RIP.

Thank you. Looking through them the only no upcharge shafts I may consider are the Aldila DVS, Grafalloy ProLaunch Platinum or Epic. I'll probably just end up getting the stock shaft as it will be quicker to recieve the club.

IMHO Save yourself some cash and put in a trusty Proforce V2 tour flight x-flex. I have one in my Ft Tour (which just cracked and Callaway is rebuilding a new one) but also have hit it in the RHT and it just launches knuckle balls that launch on a nice flat trajectory, carry forever then roll out 20-30 yards. I've hit all the Diamana's and higherend shafts and none out performed, a few put up similar or close numbers but for 200.00 more, wasn't worth it. That combo is a good 10-15 yards longer then my Tm Superfast TP with the same shaft...Great head, just have to watch breaking them, luckily Callaway's Customer Service is Top Notch.

I have a Fubuki Alpha in mine and love it. Just remember the RAZR HAWK TOUR hosel size is .350

Wow, took a look at the prices at Callway's online store.... ridiculous!!! The shaft upgrades are insane... a Razr hawk tour with a Whiteboard was $750! Quite a few shafts were at least $300 on top of the $450 original price tag. Who would pay these prices? You can get these same shafts in a Ping, Titleist, Taylormade, etc. for $400 to $600.
