Does 4 Pounds make a big difference in Carry Bags

Is it worth it to get a new bag just to save 4 pounds. Does it make a big enough difference over the course of a round to warrant getting a new bag???

yes, it does. next time you walk, just place a half gallon of milk in your bag and see how neccessary that weight becomes.

DEFINITELY! i wouldn't even consider a bag over 5 pounds for a carry bag.

4 pounds is more than the total weight of my bag when empty so in my opinion you will notice it!

If your walking a lot it matters. Just switched from a tour type stand bag to a lightweight titleist and they are miles apart.

If you walk a lot, the difference will be huge. May not feel that way in the store or when the bags are empty, but load them up and walk a bit and you'll notice it. Especially the courses you play are hilly.

If you don't carry your bag the difference won't be as great, same if the course is fairly flat.

Wow, are you in for a treat when you dump that 7.5 lb bag.

4 oz. would be debatable. 4 lbs. is like... carrying two bags.

Here's my experience: I used to carry a 7.5 lb. bag, (plus your average 14 clubs is around another 13 lbs). Started having back problems, found out one of the discs in my spine was compressed and irritated. Had to switch to a pull cart for a couple years to alleviate the inflammation.

After that I switched back to carrying and got a sub 4 lb. bag and have been fine for a couple years now; no more back problems. So yeah, every little bit counts.

With carrying it's not the weight but the amount of miles you're carrying that weight for. I am a young and fit guy, 170 lbs, 6 ft tall, athletic. Carrying that 7.5 lb. bag was like nothing to me, but it's all those miles and the constant bouncing that does the damage.

Heck, I still look for a lighter bag every year, and actually pay attention to how much 'crap' I have in my bag's pockets; only carry about 6 balls, and only the necessities, I even only carry enough water for 9 holes and just refill as necessary, but the here's the cherry: I even consider which clubs I can play graphite in to drop weight there.

Once you go light, you just want to go lighter, it makes the game so much more pleasurable and there's something about going 'minimalist' that just feels good.

It depends on what kind of shape you're in and how long and far you have to hump that bastridge.

In my bag, 4 lbs. = A dozen balls, Rain Cover, Lt. Jacket & pants, and a roll of toilet paper. I'm keeping the latter....

Huge difference.

I went from a 7lb bag to a 4lb one and I notice the difference just going to the range.

4 pounds is a lot! I went from a 7+ pound bag to a less than 4 lb bag and it is very significant difference.
