best fairway wood on the market?

I think most new FW on the market now are pretty darn good. I like the R7 St. Sasquatch is a good bang for the buck too.

Seriously I am totally in love with the hibore fairway woods... They are almost a cross between a hybrid and a fairway. Dead straight and easy to hit.

I was using a Callaway X but put in a 15* HiBore. I have only played two rounds and one range session but it is very easy to hit and accurate. Otherwise, the 17* X was good and I had no complaints with that model either.

If you look at other posts on this topic (theres been many in the forum) there are always two that get mentioned a ton of times, and are available at many spots and at used retailers for cheap!!!

 

Nike T-60 (hey, Tiger still uses it) THe T-40 5-wood aint bad either

Sonartec SS2.5 Great stock shafts in them.

I second Sonartec. I just went and tried a bunch a few months ago. The sonartecs gave a nice mid-trajectory...there are a couple of pretty good shaft options...and the ball springs off the face.

Really depends on your swing speed and handicap level. I wouldn't get all the benefits of the Sonartec because my swing speed is too low right now (around 92 mph) and I need more forgiveness.

 

I tried the Adams RPM Low Profile Draw bias, with the Graffaloy Blue Pro Launch shaft, r flex. I fell in love with it off the tee and off the deck. I haven't been able to hit my FW woods for beans since I re-started playing last year. The Adams LP looks like a hybrid or even long iron at addres. The "upside-down" technology makes the club glide through the turf; I sometimes hit behind the ball and I haven't done that with this club.

 

The Adams is an excellent choice if you want a "game improvement" FW wood. I actually look forward to Par 5's now, instead of dreading them.

Sonartec NP99, Mizuno F50, and MP001--all extremely long, very playable, with persimmon-like feel.

Callaway X. With the right shaft you will hit this club straighter than your 9 iron.

Taylor Made V-Steel...an oldie but a goodie. The sole shape just makes sense to me, and the thing just hits it straight. Still in the bag of lots of TM staffers. Love them.

The two Sonartecs in my bag are my favorite clubs. They're equally easy to hit off the fairway or the rough; I've never experience this with a club before.

 

Also tested the MP-001 and Nike T60. I prefered the former, but the Nike was longer, just not as impressed with the feel. The MP-001 had an Aldila NV and the Nike had the stock shaft, both in X flex.

I have been really impressed with the R7 TP that I have had in the bag for the last two months. It has a square face that has helped eliminate a lot of my misses to the left.

 

I also just hit the new Titleist 906 this week and was very impressed.
