For me Tour Edge Exotics by a large margin. Ballspeed numbers off the launch monitors aren't even close for the other FW's on the market. High launch, low spin the ball just travels forever. Probably not enough spin for those big hitters trying to drop a 3 wood onto the green and have it hold. For us distance challenged it's hands down the longest and easiest to hit straight. Good off the fairway or off a tee.

Callaway Fusion - expensive though, Ping G5 or Titleist 904F. I haven't tried the 906F2 but I'm sure it will be very good also.

Titleist TS2 16.5° w/ Tensei AV 65 Stiff

For a 3-wood, I prefer TaylorMade's V-Steel 13* T/S (or 15* Tour), with a 43" 757 Speeder shaft tipped 1/2".

For #4 or #5 woods, I also like the V-Steel but prefer a 42.5" Vista Pro 90 shaft for those. I tip the VP-90 1/4" for the 4-wood and 1/2" for the 5-wood.

Nike SQ 17* 4 wood with the Nike Diamana x-flex shaft. Great feel, sets up very nicely and easily. Can hit fade, draw and straight shots with this. Hit it about 250 yards. Great off the tee or fairway.

Demo the Callaway X-tour, did not like, harder to work and were harder to get up in the air.

Previously played Cobra SZ woods, nice club, very long. Just wanted to draw/pull on every shot.

TaylorMade Jetspeed 9.5*
TaylorMade Jetspeed 3 Wood
TaylorMade SLDR S 3 Hybrid
TaylorMade RSI 1 4-AW
Mizuno JPX 54*, 58*
Odyssey Black Series 2 Ball Putter

I thought the Cally X, Fusion and Tour Edge were the best until I tried Sonartec. I bought the SS 2.5 21* and I absolutely kill it. I have hit more greens with this club than any 4 iron I ever owned. It hits the ball high and it stops on a dime for a fairway wood. I have since bought the 19* and 14*. Sonartec is the best out there IMHO.

Has anybody tried the Nike T60 with the steel stock shaft? How does that shaft play? I currently have a Mizuno MP 001 that I reshafted with a Prolaunch blue, but am looking for something with better directional consistency. While I find the MP 001 to be very easy to hit, I am not always able to place it as much as I need.

Sonartec NP99, Mizuno F50, and MP001--all extremely long, very playable, with persimmon-like feel.

I very much like your list christoufr. For me I'd go:

1. Sonartec NP-99 (great off the tee, even better off the deck)

2. Mizuno MP-001 (great feel, innovative design--first successful blend of carbon and steel)

3. Callaway Steelhead + (the end-all, be-all fairway from Callaway)

Sonartec SS-03. With the smaller heads and driving cavities they put a lot of "umph" into the ball. Labelled as a players club, I hit my SS-03 19* as well as any fairway I've tried, and I'm certainly NOT a player. Maybe the stock Penley in R flex just works with my swing, or I have some irrational confidence in this club which allows me to swing freely. Regardless, this club has been much better to me than many other fairways said to be much more forgiving.

Sonartecs are fantastic off the tee (at least the SS-03) and pretty good off the deck. They set up square, have a very nice black/chrome color scheme, no alignment aid (nice and clean), and can be had pretty cheap used or on closeout.

I just wish there were more lefty Sonartec options... :idhitit:

Thank you Beruo,

I would have added the Steelhead and 904f but, I let them go as most hoes do-- to make way for the 906f2, and 585h. Thanks again for the aggreement on the list.

I feel the best Fairway Wood is one that is no longer on the market. The Big Bertha 2004. These were great off the tee, awsome off the fairway, and just felt great.

I owned the X Fairway Woods (3 and 5) and wanted so much to love these, but just didn't like them very much. I ended up trading them off for a FT-3 Driver and got a Fusion 3w for free durring their better summer promotion.

The Callaway Fusion 3 Wood hits bombs off the tee, it's silly long and very smooth but I don't like it very much off the fairway. The Callaway Fusion 5 Wood is nice off the Tee and nice off the fairway, but doesn't seem to be as long as other 5 Woods I have owned / tired. The Great Big Bertha II was definately a longer 5 Wood. The smooth sole seems to promote skimming the ground and leads to thin shots (for me at least) in anything but near perfect lies. Also, the materials it's made out of makes this Wood very "Fragile". The Sole and face gets wrecked / pitted / scratched very easily.

These will stay in my bag for a while, just because I spent so much $$$ on them, but I probably wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Unfortunately Callaway's offering of FW Woods this year just didn't suit me as much as they did last year.

Thanks,

Hey Chris :idhitit:

I see you have both the Mp-60 and J33cb in your two excellent bags ;)

How will you rate the Mp-60 up against the J33cb's in terms of forgiveness, feel and control ?

Is the J33cb iron pure satin or half satin and half polished ?

Although very expensive, the Exotics are in a league of their own. I can't believe anyone who has hit these would disagree. After TEE you would have to go with Callaway (most used on tour by far).

TaylorMade M2 (9.5*)
Exotics CB5 (15*)
TM Rescue TP (19*)
Mizuno JPX 850 Forged (4-GW)
PING Anser Forged (54*,58*)
PING Vintage Pal 2 (35")
