Current Phoenix vicinity course conditions

I'm gonna try to get out to aguila on sat if anyone is interested, I probably have a 2nd as of right now.


Also, I heard that Legend Trail is in AWESOME shape right now, greens already rolling at 10 and they are gonna speed them up even more. Nice dense growth on the fairways. Good to hear since people have reported spotty conditions up there as of late.

Played a few courses in the past month:

Walked TPC Champions Sunday morning for $50. Fairways were fine, rough is dormant but still really thick. The greens were disappointing. A single in our group had a caddy and the caddy said it's just dormant turf painted green. The greens are [b]rock hard[/b] with just whatever dormant grass has survived and are indeed painted green. They still roll fairly good and are speedy, though. Sidenote: he said Stadium course is looking rough for the tourney. They've overseeded the course three(!) times and the grass still isn't growing in well. He said it's real damp because of all the watering, too.

Played the Palm course at McCormick Ranch for the GolfHub event last Sunday. I've never been a huge fan of McCormick but the course was in well enough shape overall. It's just always so damn damp out there. Why do they need to water that course so much? Just let it dry out a bit. The greens look blotchy with dry spots, but they were rolling better than th.

And not that anyone cares, but I played Bougainvillea a few weeks ago since I stick with cheap, easy courses when I play with my gf. It was Bougainvillea. $29 on a Sunday afternoon in January says it all.

Played two courses this past weekend:

Hillcrest - Greens were rolling at about 7. Honestly, as if they just overseeded three weeks ago. Fairways and approaches were soggy. Overall conditioning was below average. I guess that's why they only charge $38.

Aguila - course in fantastic shape overall. Fairways firm, newly renovated bunkers are marvellous. Greens and surrounds were way too soft for my taste, couldn't bounce anything up and any shot to the green left a huge pitch mark. Nonetheless they putted nicely - good speed and fairly true. $29 to walk with the Phoenix card, a great walk by the way.
