All Ping Iron Players

I have the i-10 with AWT stiff and hit them way too high. I'm changing to the Z-Z65 withch I had in my S59 irons.

I'm the same...I've tried two sets of i10s now (white and yellow dots) with the AWT and they go WAY high...and WAY left at times as well. Not a good combination. I attributed this to the lie angle, hence the two sets, but they both produced the same flight, with the whites going further left than the yellows. Hit them with the Z-Z65 and they are a ton better. Favorite shaft to date of all I've played.

 

I see a lot of positive reviews for the AWT and how they are supposed to be different than the CS Lites, but for me they had the exact same characteristics. Funny, they have eerily similar step patterns as well.

Z-Z65 in S58's. Feeling like too much shaft. Fear I've made a terrible mistake. OTOH, I did not like the CS-lite's I had in my i3+ blades. I'm probably just not going to feel comfortable with anyhting that is not rifle 5.5.

Been gaming the i10's with dg s300's for about two weeks and am very happy.

I have ZZ65's in my S-58's... I was able to see the new S-57s and they are sweet. Word is that the only stock shafts you will be able to order in them is the DG S-300 and X-100. It seems that PING is going to be going to the DG shafts in the future.

I have a set of i5 and used to have CS lite on them, but they started going higher and higher and they would magnify the sidespin: a tiny draw would become a boomerang hook and same for a fade.

So I decided to reshaft and tried just about everything available.

I ended up with KB Tour 5.5 soft stepped once and I am having a hell of a time with my irons: never played better; if I could stop push-slicing my driver life would be perfect.

I also liked the zz 65 quite a bit, but the KB Tour are by far the best for my swing

I just bought a random used set of Ping S59s, and it turns out they are exactly what I am looking for.

zz65 for my irons, s58 that's what ping tested them around after all?

 

saying that I had the zz65 put in my two wedges also for consistancy.

I was able to exchange them for I10's with the DG x-100 w/Cushin. The combination of the X-stiff shaft and high kickpoint has given me a much better ball flight (penetrating, drop and stop). I'm still trying to dial in the distances, but they appear to be within 5 yards of the i3's (as opposed to 10-15 yards the AWT's) and this is good enough for me and my abilities. (I'm a 7.1).

 

 

Just curious, if it is good enough for your ability (7.1) now, is it also good enough for you to go even lower? It looks not.

 

I'm another i10-AWT user who lost some distance and wondering if I have to get new shafts.

Zing 2 with Pre True Temper Tour Flighted Rifles 6.0. My wedges are 5.5.

 

I have had great results with this set of irons matched to these shafts.

I would say they will be just fine. I would consider the trajectory 'pro-like'. I can hold all but the hardest desert greens under normal conditions because of this trajectory and high spin rate (high clubhead speed). I'm probably a stronger ball striker than I give myself credit for. The accuracy aspect (left and right) is still a work in progress. That will help get me to another level (sub 4).

 

Since I wrote this first post, I can say that I shot a nice even par 72 last Tuesday (personal best) and was 1 over 37 on the front today (I had a triple and double on the back and wound up with an 80). The day before the 72, I was even par on the back. What I'm saying is that I'm "peeking" at that next level right now and these shafts are getting it done.

I love 'em. People have been ragging on the AWTs but I think they're great. Basically, the X-stiff AWT is like an DG X100 soft stepped 1.5 times. it's perfect.

I have a set of Copper Eye 2+'s that have Rifle Lite 6.0 in them and loved them. I don't play them now however. I just bought a set of Original SS Eye 2's. I am in the process of re shafting them with Rifle Flighted Project X 6.0. I can't wait till I am done with them and can get out and play with them. IMO the Ping Eye 2 is the best iron ever made.
