His swing looked great off the tee... he changed putters... I couldn't tell if it was his old scotty or a nike method model like his scotty but it wasn't the little blade mallet. He also had a GD tour ad shaft in his driver... I think that's new as well. His wedge game and pitches looked different... he seemed posted on his left leg and had no move off the ball... His overall tempo looked smooth and not rushed... It seemed like he might be laying off the throttle finally... Go get em' Tiger!!!

These are the freshest golf kicks I've ever seen

I like the all black look for Tiger. It seems to convey a sort of playful black hatted villainy. The tour would be much more interesting if Tiger embraced such a role, given that so many already hate the man, while his fans would love to see him express some sort of personality- really any sort of personality. Couldn't hurt his market appeal, either. As the cynical Bill Hicks might say "Ohh, I see what you're doing, capitalizing on the almighty villain dollar! Bad guys are so marketable... Huuuge upside right there! Nice move."

On a serious note, it is good to hear him say he feels ready to go. I think he really is ready this time, and I sense he'll be in the winner's circle before the year is out. If his short game is sharp, he can contend anywhere.

+1. I thought the same exact thing when I first saw the all-black outfit. It's a good look for him.

Tiger really does need to start enjoying himself more and expressing some personality. The shots he's made throughout his career are amazing, but the thing that always made me want to watch him play was the intensity he played with, the huge fist pumps, all of the excitement he showed in his younger years. It's been completely missing ever since his image went downhill.

That being said, he definitely looks more relaxed and he actually looks upbeat and excited to play. Definitely glad to see him back, gonna be a great weekend to watch golf. I'd love to see him come back and get a win, or at least a top-10.

I'm glad he's back but I will be surprised if Tiger is anything more than a middle of the pack golfer going forward.. Doesn't have a length advantage anymore and is not going to intimidate anyone. Too many good young players now.. Feherty even said and I'm paraphrasing... "Tiger 2000 version would get his arse kicked now.."

2000 Tiger would win the Slam this year...

My guess is he'll hack it up, fake an injury, and withdraw. He's a circus.

Just the video footage... I'm pretty observant and that's what I instantly picked up on. Especially the video of him chipping and hitting that wedge out of the rough.

After he picked up the tee, he attempted to take a step with his right foot, but it didn't really happen, like he wanted his weight back on his right leg. He may be ok, but it looked funny to me.

You're trying to make something out of nothing. He tramped down his divot, just like the rest of the golfing world does sometimes.

It's good to have Tiger back, I hope he does well. Those shoes are horrible though.

I love the shoes, both the look and concept.

I wear Nike Free trainers regularly, and at the range (mats). They'd be awesome as golf shoes!

Feherty also spoke of Tiger as being the best ever. So how does one of teh best of the best = getting his hind quarters kicked?

Surely you jest; it wasn't just the length that won him all those events or that put other players into submission, it was his short game and putting the final nails in the coffin. He may have reached pretty much every par-5 in two, but he also chipped or putted in the majority of the eagles necessary to go low. He also saved the pars necessary to keep him there. At his prime-and perhaps again soon-it was almost a foregone conclusion that he was going to make eagles. There isn't a single long-hitter now that just steps up to those eagle putts and chips with the entire gallery expecting it to drop nine times out of ten.

Love his right elbow position in that shot on the first page. Very controlled.

Every time of late, it has been this way.
At first, the enthusiasm is tempered but the failures of recent past. The closer the tournament gets, the more manic the Woods faithful become, reach a frenzy level right before the first ball is hit.
Now we all know how it's gone the last few years. Woods sputters around, usually play 2-3 good rounds out of four, and limps away with people saying what could have been if he could still putt.

I sincerely hope that Woods has a good showing. He still has a large following and for their sake and his, let's hope he hovers around the top ten and is relevant over the weekend. I mean, this course the not cut previous experience etc. all would lead a person to think if he doesn't do well here, it's done.

I think his lack of confidence has lots to do with his poor short game over this drought. I expect this to change soon.
