I think Osprey Ridge is by far the best course, but if you want to play where the pros play then choose Magnolia or Palm.

+1. They are all very nice courses though.

Magnolia or Osprey. IMO the others aren't worth your time. Be sure to check GolfNow for deals. We are playing Magnolia this weekend and got a time after 10 am for $59 a person. Times before 10 were $89 IIRC. One of my friends called the Disney Pro Shop to see if he could get a good rate with his Disney annual pass and the best they could do wasn't nearly as good as GolfNow.

We go to Disney every two years and play at least 3 times on each trip - all of the Disney courses are very nice. While Osprey is certainly the most challenging with the most modern architecture, over the years I've found that I enjoy playing LBV the most. That said, I'm only a 6 handicap, so I may not fully appreciate the nuances of the other courses that better players may value.

Difference of opinion here. The Palm is every bit as good as the Magnolia IMO. I like it because most of the holes are secluded and it seems like you are a million miles from civilization. I think I have seen more wildlife there than the others as well. I have been told that the reason the pros play the final two days on Magnolia instead of The Palm is because it is more open and easier to get lots of spectators onto. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

It seems you're getting votes for each of them. However, I would agree exactly with this. Osprey is a great course and definitely the most challenging. However, LBV is one of my favorite courses in all of Orlando. Not sure I can pinpoint a specific reason why. I just really like the course. In my opinion, Palm and Magnolia are both absolutely forgettable average courses. I can think of many Orlando courses I would rather play than those two.

If you look at golfnow.com you can find some really cheap afternoon rates at nice courses including LBV and Grand Cypress (which is really close and has 45 holes of golf).

For what it's worth, Arnold Palmer's management company is now operating the Disney courses. The lease was signed earlier this summer and they just took over the controls about 2 weeks ago. Probably to soon to tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing but, last time I checked Disney doesn't make too, too many bad business decisions and most Palmer courses are well kept, well run if a bit overpriced. Please report back on your experiences. :)

I hope Palmer's group doesn't make these courses too expensive. That would be a shame.

I don't know but in honor of your Disney Trip here's a joke....

Have you heard that Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are getting a divorce? Yes, it's very sad, but Mickey went to see a divorce lawyer and explained what was going on and why he wanted a divorce. The attorney was shocked and told Mickey that he would have to do some checking and for Mickey to come back in a week. The following week Mickey showed up and the attorney told him, "I've been investigating your allegations and I don't think that you can prove that Minnie is crazy." "Crazy?" Mickey asked. "I didn't say she was crazy, I said she was f***ing Goofy!"

They're already expensive enough just like everything else at Disney. Oops, did I just type that?

Just played the Magnolia and Palm during my R n R last week. Both courses are nice. The Palm was more scenic in my opinion and a little tighter from the tees. The Magnolia was very nice as well. Played like garbage (nine months with no golf in the desert) but did manage a few birdies; most notably the mickey mouse par 3 on the Mag. Both courses were in good shape and the new management was quite helpful.

Magnolia is long and has some holes that will sneak up on you. But in the background there is always the "noise of Disney". The trains, the Nascar Driving experience, and you can even hear the music coming from the theme areas. But the course, as with all Disney properties, is immaculate. You will be playing, quite literally, PGA quality with fast greens and fairways, soft sand, and a true challenge regardless of what tee you might play from.

Osprey Ridge is pristine. The only sounds you will hear are those made by golfers. The amazing sounds your driver makes as the echoes bounce off of the surrounding woods is only matched by the incredible condition of the entire track. Why the PGA doesn't add this one to their tourney here is beyond me.

But, and this is a sad but, my understanding is that the pristine quiet and tranquility of the Ridge is soon to be broken by sounds of construction as new management takes over and expands a hotel operation. Sad but true. They already closed one of the Disney courses (right next to the Ridge) and that property is going to be developed.

So...

My advice is simple.

Play the Mag to get the true PGA experience. But do also play the Ridge while you can still enjoy the tranquil nature of the course as it was originally designed. I am afraid that in a couple of years the prices will be much higher as will the noise levels, and that which has been lost cannot ever be found again. Except that is in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to experience it "when".

In any case enjoy.

BTW, on a side note, try to hit either Falcon's Fire and/or Hawk's Landing in the attractions area. Both are Marriot properties, are in fantastic condition, and are both DEFINITELY worth a visit.

Osprey is my vote....Great Track. I'll suggest you jump a cab for a short ride and go play Falcon's Fire just outside the gate. Well worth it.[quote name='simpledesign' timestamp='1317913036' post='3633859']
I'm going to be at Disney World next week and I was wondering which course (on Disney property) would you pick if you only have 1 day?
