Best replacement grip for Cleveland Classic

Finding the original too thin

I am looking for suggestions for a suitable replacement grip for the Cleveland Classic.

I have #1, #2 and #3 and think that they are all great putters, but the original grips are too thin and I think that this is why I am struggling for consistency. I'm sure that Cleveland have a plausible justification for the grips that they fit (other than price!!). I have tried to get used to them, but I am struggling.

I am concerned that by changing the grip I will be affecting the weighting and balance - any thoughts?

A new grip shouldn't make a difference to the swing weight unless its something like a superstroke. Go with what you like, if there is a slight change in swing weight just add a strip of lead tape.

This is what I use on most of my putters, one of thems a Cleveland Classic.

you're right about grip weght affecting the perceived weighting... a lot heavier and the head will feel lighter, so try to find something of the same weight (prob 60gm or so)

I had Golf Pride VRAD Optik grips on my Classic #2- felt great, weight felt right and I still regret selling it!

On my Cleveland Classic I put on a super stroke ultra slim and I've never been more consistent.

You can't go wrong with an IOMIC. A little more expensive, but worth it. Or, you could do what I did to my #2. Add a 7 inch extension, and use a Winn Black and Red Pistol Belly Grip. Slap some lead tape in the cavity and you are set.

I have a Superstroke Slim Lite on mine and I have never putted better. It weighs about the same as the stock grip that was on it yet it's much bigger.

I agreed. This is a good grip. Feel Sticky and easy to clean.

I am tempted by the Golf Pride VRAD Optik as I have that grip on another of my putters (!) and it is great, but I know that it weighs about 80g. Given the relatively light weight of the Classic, I am worried that the balance will be thrown off.

I am not sure that all the other grips mentioned are that different to the original to make a difference.

The other thought is that it is not the putter, but the operator!! I will the No. 2 another go this weekend and see how we go.

I had the same concerns as you when replacing my putter grip. I'm not sure of the weight of your original grip on the Cleveland Classic, but I just replaced my putter grip with the Winn Jumbo Lite grip (J8LTL-BW)and it only weighs 62g.

My original grip was a Cameron Studio grip which I think is one of the lightest grips at 58-59g. I can't tell the difference at all and I've been putting great with the larger grip.
