Is anyone still using their uPro MX?

I realize I've gotten pretty lucky but used mine again this weekend and still have no issues with it. Probably used it for 35-40 rounds this summer/fall. Had one time where it shut off instead of going into power save mode but otherwise never had an issue.

 

Realize I took a chance in not returning it but for the $160 or so I paid for it I'm been more than happy.

I paid 95 for mine... returned it because I was not so lucky... but damn when it worked I liked it better then the SGX I have now.... my only issue is my course has 3 9's and I dont always play them in order the downloads have them.... it was an issue for both uPro and my SGX.. anyways wish you continued luck with your uPro... I would not mind getting it again if they can figure out the bugs.

Accprding to Callaway there is going to be a firmware update in late december to fix freezing problems and powering off problems.

I have had no issues with mine...until recently. Now, it works fine except it won't charge. Somehow the USB port failed, but I'm looking forward to getting it back from Callaway.

I really liked mine - unfortunately the battery life was so short that when they gave me a chance to get my money back I jumped on it. It would last 18 holes occasionally but mostly it would shutdown around 13 or 14 and I figured it would just get worse with time.

I haven't pulled the trigger on a new GPS - hoping something new will come out that will interest me.

Still using mine. Hope the sort the issues others were having to get skycaddy'head out of thei butts. Subscription services are terrible for gps devices. The mx for $200 is way better than any SC.

you guys are making me wanna go back.. I just might. My SGX is great but 30 bucks a year, no touch screen .. I loved the upro mx when I had it, but could not upload scores...so I had to take advantage of the recall.

Honestly, I miss my mx. The size was great [convenient] and when it worked it worked great. I really didn't have too many problems with the second one I received. I was just concerned with Callaway leaving the GPS world. I returned it when they had the recall. I may have to reconsider when they get the bugs worked out; it's just that they may raise the price then to keep pace with the gps market. I have a Garmin Approach G5 now. It works fine but I do miss my mx.

Callaway customer service is outstanding, but the mx stinks. I picked up a sg4 for 45 dollars new not refurbished and it was the best investment that I could make. Plus I saved nearly 125 dollars.

See what happens with the updates they are working on, I'm going to assume they will take care of things (until the publicly say they give up). Not many companies would do what they did with the recall and most people made money on the process. I can deal with the minor lock ups here and there knowing that it'll be fixed.

I've never had a sky caddy because they cost so much and still sick it to their customers with fees. Great thing about having options is that we can stay away from companies like that if we don't like that business model.

It took me 3 units to get one that worked without any issues. I kept that one and couldn't be happier. If I didn't, I would probably be looking to buy it back. Despite the fiasco, Callaway STILL has some of the BEST customer service around for all their products!

When the MX came out with it's new web site Cally was nice enough to move me to unlimited course downloads too.

wha .. wha . . WHAT?????? I'm an original uPro user too, still have some credits for courses too, IIRC. How did you manage to receive unlimited downloads?

I also have the original uPro, and was "upgraded" to unlimited download status. I believe I had about $60 in credits when the change in status was made, and the amount of credits left may have been a factor in the upgrade. Don't be afraid to ask Callaway - as stated, their customer service is excellent.

Same here. I was also converted to the unlimited pro mode download credit for my uPro. I think I had about $32 in credits when they converted. Now if there was only some way I could get them to map the courses I play here in Japan...

I still game the uPro MX. I dropped the original one I had on my kitchen floor & the screen got some cracks in it. Called Callaway & they replaced it plus sent me a body skin for free.

Callaway customer service is great!

Mine works as advertised. I got it when they first came out and use it several times a month no issues at all, very good golf GPS.

Picked one up for very good price, they seem to be beta testing new software. Did notice website seems to load pages faster than before...
Great size, can't wait to try it out over weekend against original I still have. Had to call cust service when setting up but quick, efficient, very good. I hav never had cust serv issue with them....

Got an email today regarding the beta test:

We are writing because you have expressed interest in being part of our Beta Test team for the update of the upro mx device. We very much appreciate your willingness to help, and know that your input will be invaluable as we work to improve the upro mx product and its related services.

We would like for you to participate in a beta test of the mx software patch, which we are nearly ready to release to the entire mx user base. It will resolve several of the key issues that have been reported on the device, such as:

Software freeze during play
Inaccurate battery indicator
Difficult list navigation

We have also made additional experience improvements we hope you like. At this time, the software patch is only available for PC owners. We are working on a solution for Apple computer owners, but it is not yet available for beta testing.

I did nothing... they emailed me and told they were upgrading me.

I suspect that what they did was based on what course package you bought (I think I went for the 125 course plan but I honestly don't remember) and/or how many credits you have remaining. Maybe it was their way of saying thank you for all the stuff I've bought over the years.

I just received and downloaded the update to version 2.2
The home screen is now different, you no longer swype to get to different screens. There are npw 5 icons on the main screen.
The device seems to be much more responsive and the lag I had seems to be gone.
Looking forward to trying it out on the course.

How long did you wait for your update, they say wait 48 hours but it has been 3 days. Im excited for this new update. on a side note, i have had my MX since it came out and had no problems at all. I had the original upro and it worked like a charmn too. I hope i get my update link soon cause im going out this weekend.

Been using mine since mid summer and it has been fine. My only issue is battery life, one round is the max I get out of it.

I have never had issues with mine, did the update and even looks sweeter, in my opninion the best gps on the market. the battery life does lack but otherwise very happy with mine.

I signed up Wednesday and got it on Thursday.
I am really liking the new look of the home screen
