Another brewer I wish we had in AZ, I am becoming a real big fan of Evil Twin. A very well done non BBA stout

Had some Racer X yesterday and really enjoyed it. Very refined for a double IPA, maybe not hoppy or intense enough for the hardcore IPA drinkers. Didn't seem as "in your face" as a Double Jack or 90 Min, in a good way.

Picked up a pack of Azacca this weekend too. Looking forward to trying it given how much I like Founders Centennial and All Day IPAs.

Anyone else get to try the Victory Java Cask. It is a barrel aged coffee stout that is excellent. I picked up a case ahead of time. What an awesome beer, hoping they do it again next year.

Yeah I had one, posted on it a few pages back, really liked it!

The Azacca was good, but I'll preface that by saying that I like the way Founders does IPAs, and I'm not as refined or experienced as many of you. Compared to the Centennial and Double Trouble, I thought Azacca was surprisingly intense and hoppy for a "normal" IPA, I thought it would be more dumbed down, like a higher powered All Day IPA. 1PuttTUT said he liked the Harvest Ale better, but I actually thought it was similar, although, Harvest had a cleaner hops presence. The Azacca has more other stuff you can taste. Anyway, I do have one last bottle of Harvest, so maybe I need to do a side by side.

Ten Fidy was awesome as always, like pouring a can of black oil into a glass. Definitely one of the best imperial stouts out there. But then it was an early night for me after those two, didn't want to go on, still have to work today, lol.

Also saw that Bells is starting to distribute Hopslam, will need to secure some of that.

I'm not judging (can't after paying 35 for a 4 pack of Dogfish!) but simply going to say that the Hopslam is going to be int he 25/4 range. That mike make me pause. There are a lot of really good IPA's and douple IPA's (Lot 6 from Evo) that are a fraction of that cost.

Who am I kidding. If I see it I'll probably end up with a 4 pack.

I 100 % agree that there are a good number of IPAs that compare well to Hopslam these days. 5 years ago, yes, Hopslam was exceptional. But the bar has been raised so much that the field has caught up.

That said, I will probably end up with some as well.

Where did you hear 4 packs? They have always been 6s. And paid $18-$19 for a 6er last year. Jump to $24/4 would be pretty extreme.

My bad, thought they were doing tall boys in 4. I saw $23 for a sixer from a beer nut friend in the RVA area. (That's VA pricing.) He's pretty on point with stuff. I just need to learn how to read (and type apparently) sometimes.

I think getting a mini keg would be cool. It would make a great byob addition to a house party.

Also, they are only doing cans, no bottles, this year due to the expansion underway at their bottling line.

Just think...early spring rounds of golf with hopslam in your cart cup holder!

Gotcha. There is traditionally a ton of pricing variance on Hopslam because of demand (some retailers will mark up as far as the market will allow, others try and keep prices "reasonable"). Last year, just in NoVA, I saw between $17 and $27. $32+ in DC, IIRC.

Not sure why I am just now finding this thread.... Maybe I should venture out of the golf side more often... I love most all crafts, hoppy IPA's are my favorite followed by a good milk stout preferably on nitro!

Have you ever seen this much Hopslam at once? My Kroger gets all the good stuff and fortunately doesn't price gouge or limit the amount purchased!

My new favorite go to IPA's are Sculpin and Orpheus. I also really enjoy Pinner as well for an all day drinking beer that's lighter on the alcohol. Craft beer is the reason I will never be skinny, well that, cheeseburgers and chicken wings!

Invasion is a nice Pale Ale from Cigar City, but stay clear of the Helles lager, as it is just okay. The Orpheus IPA is very hoppy and earthy, which is what I prefer best about a good IPA. The more it smells like something illegal, generally the better it is to me!

Not generally a fan of Sweetwater beers because to me they all taste a lot alike. Ordered this one at Ruth's Chris in Atlanta for restaurant aide and it was delicious!
