Yeah that's the bummer about it, for $14 I'd buy it all day, for $17-20 I'd get something else. I know it's a few dollars difference, but you know what I mean?

 

Thinking about buying a few bottles at GCM while they still have he old prices, and it's already got some cellar time on it ha

Bells Oberon is my favorite beer for summer golf. Enjoy lots of others: Troegs, Dogfish Head, etc. Live in Western PA so I drink lots of our locals. If you are ever in the area try: Helltown, East End, Full Pint, Rivertowne, and so many more.

Ive been pretty harsh on AZ beers/brewers in the past, well tonight that changes a little bit. Finally found an AZ beer that can hang with some of the better stuff I have had from CA and the limited east coast stuff I have had. I bought this at Total Wine and it is not as fresh as I could have got if from Whole Foods but man, First sip is like pliny and the finish reminds me of FW Double Jack or Maharaja, Well done IPA and if this was a seasonal or limited release from any of the big boys it would be highly sought after.

Finally got my hands on some Pineapple Sculpin. Big pineapple nose but a little light on the taste. I like it though. I tasted more pineapple the second time around. Also picked up some Left Hand Fade To Black Vol 1 - Foreign Export Stout. It is a good stout with an interesting flavor.

Had some good ones lately... Hop Slam (thanks to Chief16 for hooking me up), Innis and Gunn Rum Aged Scottish Ale, Hardywood Bourbon Sidamo, and a Deschutes Black Butte that I saved from last year.

 

Hop Slam - bright, syrupy IPA, most importantly, rich, full hoppiness. Very solid beer, per its reputation. Definitely one I'll pick up if I can find more, although I feel like a Founders Centennial IPA could be a worthy poor man's substitute for this. Very similar taste and feel to me.

 

 

I&G Rum Aged - had to try a real Scottish Scottish Ale, super smooth, with your typical nutty Scottish ale flavor. Got a small taste of the rum, but barely. Like a lighter, smoother version of Founders Dirty bastxxx, more so than the Bel Haven. Old Chubb might still be the best one in this category for me.

 

 

Hardywood Bourbon Sidamo - one of my local favorites for sure, nice imperial stout with some bite from the bourbon, but this year's wasn't as smooth as last year's batch.

 

 

Deschutes Black Butte XVI - saved this from last year and it was decent, very strong chocolate cherry flavor, smooth, rich, etc but I couldn't get over the tartness of the cherry. Maybe I needed to drink this fresh. This was also my first encounter with a wax wrapped bottle top. Guess they were serious about sealing in that freshness.

Randomly found some KBS on draft in Ann Arbor last night. Did not ask if it was 2016 or an older keg though. Seemed to be less boozie than my 2015 bottles.

Drinking the last of my DFH Palo Santo. Bottled 7/2014. This was one of my first aging experiments and I'm glad i did it. Significantly better than fresh much smoother and more refined dangerous smooth for a 12% brew

Hangar 24 Pugachev's Cobra stout on draft tonight very solid for a 14% beer right out of the gate. Might sit on my bottle a little while now that I've had it fresh.

Time to start thinking about Masters line ups not sure what beers I'm gonna break out yet but here's my logic

 

Thursday

Much like the ceremonial opening tee shots something nostalgic but doesn't pack a punch. Maybe the beer that got you started on craft along with some old favorites. You can't win one day one but you sure can lose.

 

Friday

 

Time to kick it up a notch make that push for the cut line. Beers that pack a little more punch and flavor for me maybe barleywine or old ale

 

Saturday

 

Time to stick with what got you here and what's been working. Non bourbon barrel stouts that have been aging a while for me

 

Sunday

Prepare for the worst or the best. In the event Bubba wins i don't want to remember it so bringing out the heavy hitters. In the event someone i want to win I have a high abv something going to celebrate. Big time abv BBA stouts barleywines or old ales
