Congratulations to Carl. Hopefully Tadd doesn't tinker too much with his bag before his BIG tourneys.

Tadd not tinker? LOL..did you know he changed drivers just prior to the Open? As great as he was hitting at Speedline Classic...I believe he had a D3 in the bag this past weekend. YAY! I won't have to ho a Speedline to keep up with him! This time he must have been inspired by me! :cheesy: JUST KIDDING!!! I know he wouldn't hit one ob left and then in the water right on #10 at HCC! Talk about a lousy way to start a round!! :cheesy:

I'm surprised Chad-eo doesn't have it too!

YUP..THANKS WES! and THANK YOU UNCLE CARL for sponsoring us again this year. Great tourney as always. I wish I swung my driver like the early holes instead of trying to hit homeruns towards the end. That last hole was an ugly foul ball to the womens tee box! :pardon:

Great driving from you Carl. Best I've seen you hit a driver in months. Bobby...good to see you hitting the ball as long as ever. I still think you were ripped off on the longest drive hole. I can't see how that one easily at 325+ was beat.

next year i hope some of you other guys help support to this charity. i'm not rich but i believe we should help a charity or two. it is for a good cause. yah, yah, yah i know times are a little tough but a little from everyone = alot to someone.

With Hawaii being #1 in diabetes in the nation....you or someone you know will be hurt by this disease in the future. Definitely a great cause to support.

And stay away from those heavy on the gravy roast pork plates! :D

Nice to meet you at the clubhouse Spanky. Too bad you had just missed Reid. Going to the clubhouse is usually the first step to losing all your money to the life of being a club ho. Not that there is anything wrong with that. First things first. A couple of Chikaras, then a bag full of JDM. Yeah, that's it. :good:

Ahh..sorry I missed you. I'm sure you'll find me there one day soon. If it's not a new club I'm fixing..it's an old one.

It was nice meeting you and Carl today too! Carl looked a little busy so I didn't want to bother him much. I'll be back down soon and probably pick up a wedge or two  and hopefully meet the rest of you. I went down to Roger Dunn today to pick up some golf balls and ended up walking out of there with an Odyssey Black Series i #1! :tease:

Continued from the course conditions thread.

5/22 Makena North. Great course in great shape. Nice views too.

On a side note, the South course is being renovated for a new housing development plus new grass throughout, according to the restaurant folks. I heard from someone else that they are going to make the South course private. Maybe because of the new housing? Does anyone know if this is true? The South course runs along the ocean. It would be a shame to lose the chance to play there.

From what I understand, the reasons for closing Makena's South course was as described above. They had closed the North course a couple of years ago to address grass changes, so the South's is being done now. However, as for the privatization, the residential development that was supposed to go up around the South course has stalled big time. So if the development doesn't come up soon, I doubt that the South would turn private. If it did, it would be a huge loss. Maui already lost one of its great courses, Kapalua Village (my favorite at Kapalua), when it too was closed to become a ultra private course, accessible to owners in the high end development. This is a disturbing trend of access to only the ultra elite. The Big Island has enough courses with this type of situation, with great courses like Hokulia, Hualalai Weiskopf, Nanea, and Kukio being unavailable to the general public, now it's happening on Maui, and probably some course on Kauai would also follow suit.

Wow! That does sound very disturbing. However, I think it boils down to straight economics. They can charge big membership/maintenance fees as a private, but people always complain about the green fees if it is public/semi-private. In these times, I doubt a lot of people are traveling to the neighbor islands just to play golf and much less at $100 plus per round for some of those courses. The locals won't generally play unless the fees are lower, tourism is down, and course maintenance costs are constant. That all seems to add up to struggling golf courses. I guess they gotta do what they gotta do.

I didn't know the Village course closed. Too bad, I enjoyed that course more than the Bay course. At least I got to play it before it went private.

With those courses mentioned above on the Big Island (Nanea, Kukio, etc.) I've only managed to play on Hokulia twice and hopefully get a chance to play the Hualalai Weiskopf and Nanea soon. Those courses do well with their $250,000 membership fees (give or take depending on which property) and at minimum of $1.7mill for a piece of land (that's just land no house), they're not struggling too much for $$. People that live there or buys there doesn't worry about the economic situation much. I remember the ocean side lots were going for $22mill per lot and that's not even for half an acre. One of the largest homes there is built on 3 ocean side lots and the living area is around 26,000 sq/ft. Must be nice to live like that, must be nice!

I'm not sure where to put this post, but HELP! I need Carl's telephone number. The number I have is the old one.

The head fell off my driver while I was hitting balls on the driving range. I need a new shaft before tomorrow afternoon. Damn, they just don't make graphite like they used to. And I didn't even mistreat it. Unless one of those snap hooks is considered mistreatment of the driver shaft.

Giggled to myself when I read this post http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/index.php?s=...t&p=1722147 For some of you guys who've bought gloves from Par 72/Chikara Designs..you know what I mean about how long lasting they are.

By the way...what's everyone been up to? The room is quiet! I'll be on the BEEG Island from the 4th to 14th. From Washington DC, Baltimore, LA, Vegas..oh and Utah. I hope the room is still active while I'm away! :drinks:

Well I'm back and damnnnnn...this room is dead! Where the hell are all the boys??? Did ho'ing stand still while I was gone?? Wth..I've been jonesing for a golf fix for the last ten days. Saw some beautiful courses in Utah, Maryland and Vegas but alas...family vacation means no golf. Didn't even get to stop in a golf shop the whole time I was away. You know it's bad when you're in Target, Walmart Superstore and Big 5 Sporting goods and you find yourself looking at some awful POS cast sticks and complete sets! :D

So...anyone been up to anything lately? I know one of the club makers we frequent has been out of state as well. Hopefully he'll be back soon as even if I was on vacation..that didn't stop my from shopping on Ebay. :D
