Had a nice outing at RK with Bobby, Reid and Rick. Great to get out again after being stuck at baseball and soccer games. Swing was ugly, but the course was in good condition, the sun was shining, the company was good and we finished in 3 1/2 hours. Thanks guys. Next time hopefully I will hit the ball like it wasn't my fist time on the course.

Yes...very nice to be out on the course instead of work. Also nice to be able to see/try over over 1K of putters. :pimp:

Yes it was fun, hopefully I'll be able to learn how to putt with one of those putters.

 • 5 weeks later...

Well bruddahs..the weekly subject to our rounds like probably many across the world came to an end today. Wie won! How bout that??!! I was following it on LPGA.com since the Golf Channel stupidly decided to delay the show. What a screw up by their program managers! I swear I must have refreshed my computer three times and rubbed my eyes four times to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. I'm so happy. All my days of following her locally at the tournaments and watching results weekly hoping for a breakthrough finally came. I was a little worried seeing her tweets on Twitter...and she seemed more preoccupied by the Stanford vs USC game. Which I guess is a good thing. She didn't let the tourney get too much in her head. Amazing win considering she's actually going to Stanford and playing on such a high level part time. I bet it'll be fun in class this week. "What did you do this weekend Michelle?" ..."Oh..won a golf tournament and took home over half a million dollars!" GO MICHELLE GO!!!!!

I hope 2010 bring long, straight drives and money winning putts for everyone (unless it is against me, LOL).
Well, first round of 2010 out of the way today. Birdie on the first hole with new putter...hard to beat that. New putter you ask...Cameron California Del Mar..love the head style...Tony's got my Pro Plat version, my Abaco has been very good to me..but the Cali if just a really pretty putter and the ability to get it heavier then my Abaco was a big sell for me. I purchased a 33/360 (Thanks Randy :D), pulled the shaft, stuck in a fluted TT putter shaft because I love the feel of fluted shafts and needed 35" for me. Then I replaced the weights with Circle T weights I had and it's now a 350gram head. Ended up +4 at the end of the day at Royal Kunia. As with every round, it should have been +1 but alas..mental breakdowns don't help but it was a nice way to start the year.

Happy New Year all! I hope your first round of 2010 is a good one! :drinks:

You were putting great. I will take my super-lucky bounce and closing eagle as the highlight, and try to ignore the 3 straight topped shots to start the round. Thank you for the putting tip Reid, it was nice to only 3-putt one time. My next goal will be to make more than one putt over 6 feet.

Thanks Rick. I'm glad my tip helped you out. Your distance control sure seemed to get spot on during the round. All credit should be to Phil Chun over at RD's though. He was looking at me putting around over there when he made the comment to me about my stroke. Considering he's seen me golf since we were about 12 years old...he can tell when I'm screwing up! :D It's definitely helped me dial in my distances though and get much more accurate from 6' in.

That shot of yours on 18 was super. I've never seen a ricochet work so well! :cheesy: The guys on the tee box of 16 were loving it too! :clapping:

Carl's shop is open. I believe that he is waiting on a couple of things to come in, mostly shaft inventory, but the hitting area with launch monitor is set up, and he can currently do all repairs. It is across Keawe street from Comp USA in Kakaako. There is a small parking lot (all reserved) across the street from the Comp USA loading dock, by Scores. You need to enter the door under the Magdalena's Upholstery sign. Go up the stairs the left, and the go through the door at the top of the stairs. As always, you should call first to make sure that he is in and not running errands. I don't have his shop number at the time. I will get it today. You can park either on the metered street parking, or you can park in the gated parking lot with entrance by Wet Okole.

Question for you guys who play Royal Kunia on the weekend. How far out from the greens do they put those cart limit signs?

My wife and I play there on Mondays when it's raining on the Kaneohe side. This last Monday the cart signs were between 100 and 140 yards out from the greens. Hey, if I wanted to walk I wouldn't have rented the cart. And it wasn't like it was wet so they were protecting low areas from cart damage.

So, how far out are the signs on the weekends?

Aloha

There's cart signs at RK???

Actually....I know what you're saying..sometimes it seems they're much farther then usual. Weekends..it doesn't seem to bad.

ALSO...not saying that this is good..but if it's far from the hole, we stay in the rough and pull closer to our ball...make the shot then head back around the cart signs. Of course...boxes of manapua for the Marshals and Pro Shop always helps us make friends at the course too. :D

Hey, at least I'm not alone. I do the same rough thing then go back around.

I haven't been following the club saga, you still hitting the Cally iMix? I'm liking it with the ATTAS shaft. Not quite as much with the Fubuki. Thinkin of going with the Ilima and putting the ATTAS in a Sonartec GS Tour 3 wood.

Aloha
I'm still with my iMix...amazingly..this is the ONLY driver I can say that I've played for 1 year straight in probably over ten years. BUT...I have ordered a Diablo Edge Tour..just because I really like the looks of it and after a year, I figured, I might as well experiment with something. Though I have absolutely zero thoughts of getting rid of the iMix yet. The Diablo has to be hugely better before I do. The iMix is just so easy for me to keep in play.

Nice to have da master back in town...hopefully his hours spent on the range with me and mauiatheart will have worked to get us both hitting the ball better!:drinks:

Amazing how he can watch one swing and notice something right off. Then again...it could be because we're just hacks and it's pretty freeking obvious! :cheesy:

Yes. Thank you Mr. Master. My brain didn't hold the new swing together all day, but when it did, what an improvement.

:D I have to agree. Some of your drives though..much better swing. It worked pretty well for me today but I think I need about ten more hours on a driving range to get the movement down. It was nice to actually feel I hit a few solid shots today..more then I have in weeks. Also nice to be putting for birdie from 15 feet instead of 60! :cheesy:

Redhaze...we played out at Royal Kunia today.....you weren't kidding..the first hole, that cart sign was at the 100 yard marker. Mach 1 and I immediately said "He's right!!!". :cheesy: Throughout the course, they were much further out then on the weekends. I guess they try and let the areas heal up after the weekend play while putting them closer to get the weekend golfers playing faster. I'm not advocating this..but we ignored them most of the way. BUT..we did keep the carts in the rough when we did pass the signs. Since our 4some was the first one's out..it helped get us out of there in 3 hours.

It's great to be back! Diagnosing two broken swings is cake compared to issuing wake turbulence warnings and keeping a VFR and IFR aircraft from merging into a beautiful fireball! It's also great to see that Carl is back in business.
