Differences between Hoofer Models

The reason Ping Hoofer dividers don't go all the way down (and, I suspect also partly the reason they are not completely sewn to the sides) is the hoofer base design. Since the base "levers" in the Ping design, vs most other bags with flappers or paddles and what not, the "underside" length of the bag varies. If the dividers were full length, they would scrunch up at the bottom when the legs were deployed, making pulling/inserting club that much harder due to the bunched up fabric. Stopping the fabric short by 12" or so eliminates this.

Exactly, and in my opinion this the major flaw of the Hoofer design. There's so much I like about the current Hoofer, but the base flat out sucks and leads to intolerable club tangle. Very surprising from an engineering based company. It's as if they've out thought themselves. Throw a Sun Mtn base system on a Hoofer and I'd likely own one.

Did not realize how tough it has become to find Hoofer Vantages and Voyages in good shape. Those were some of my favorite bags.

yeah, they only made them for a year or two - I have two Vantage's squirreled away - one camo that I use whenever I need a stand bag (which, admittedly is not all that often anymore), and a red/grey one I've had forever that is just in my garage holding extra/odd clubs lol. Keep checking the big auction site though, they show up pretty regularly...

I have an Hoofer 2 which I love except for the lack or a towel loop. It has this strange plastic and elastic thing near the handle which I have no idea what it is. Other than that, club tangle is minimal.

That is your towel loop - you place the towel in the plastic clasp part and then clip the elastic cord over it. It kinda sucks, though - there's a reason it only lasted one hoofer generation lol. You can also just hook a towel ring into the hole at the base of the loop.

Very informative thread. I'm a huge fan of the old 2/3 look, and just looking to switch to a different colour. I've been using a 3 for years, are the newer styles much lighter, enough to notice a significant difference? I'd like to stay with the old styles and grab one off the big auction sites, but the idea of a lighter bag keeps swaying me.

I'm in the same boat, huge fan of the older hoofer 2/3. I was thinking of getting a 2016-2018 edition hoofer but now I'm leaning toward trying to find a nice older version. The older versions will definitely last a long time and they have all the pockets I need. The newer ones have some nice features and extra pockets but I'm not sold that they are going to be able to stand up against the older ones. I have been looking for a while and it should be telling that a good older one still goes for just as much as a used newer version.

^ The recent models (since 2016) are of the same quality as earlier models and have improved features. It was just the few models in between that sucked (eg, C1). 2016, 2017 are best of any Hoofers imo.

Got one in 2017. It is perfect. Did not get the 4 series, went with biggest Hoofer, which is not that big. Comfortable. Plenty of room yet light. Well-designed. Fits in trunk easily. Best bag I have had that works on a cart or carried.

I had a Hoofer 2 for years until it finally gave out on me. After that I tried a C1 but didnt like it at all. Went to a Titleist bag (sun mountain) for a couple years and it was ok. Back on the Hoofer train and I dont think I am ever leaving... except maybe for a Stitch bag...

I have a feeling you'd be back real quick if went to a Stitch bag.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
