Byron Putters Thread

I used to know John Ortega back when I was a club pro in Southern California. One day, he was all giddy about this putter and he let me try it. I loved it and he let me have it for a great price. He said it was a proto type so I asked him to bring another one that I would actually play with. I believe it was a prototype M029 Dale Head that didn't have the face completely milled. It also didn't have John Byron engraved on the face. Dale Head stamps were poorly filled with red paint. It has a black leather stitched grip with the John Byron logo/script on it. 34".
The putter that I use/used has the complete milling done to the face and has the John Byron (face) and Dale Head stamps done in gold.

great looking, well made putters, I just picked up 2 John Byron putters

 

last week but know very little about them.

John Byron Dale "O"head. This model usually had a double bend shaft inserted into the head to create a face balanced putter. Mine is one of the only ones I've ever seen with a flow neck. It also has a bell-tipped fluted putter shaft. Combined with the copper plating it has the softest feel of any putter I've ever owned.

 

Last pic is me recently winning the Sacramento City Putting Championship for the 2nd time in 4 years. 1st time I won with my Slighter Portland, this time the Byron got the call.

Beautiful putter man. What kind of face milling does it have? And congrats on the trophy ?

I don't think its milled as it is completely smooth. I believe it a cast carbon steel with a copper plate.

Seems early model. No face stamps . Sound slot. A big sound slot.
