I know that I said that I was in, but things have changed and will most likely be moving to Phoenix by the end of the month. I do not think that I will be able to make it back to play. Sorry.

I don't know how many people got this in their email, but if you're a member of CDGA (:D), you can play a round at Mistwood for FREE (valid 'till 5/17). Go to www.mistwoodgolf.net/cdga and enter code CDGA :friends: We played it today and even though the greens were recently aerated, they rolled pretty nicely and the course was in very good condition (compared to i.e. Water's Edge, which I permanantly crossed off my list of courses to play). Coincidently, I had my worst round of the year, but that's expected when you re-tee it 6 times :D. Oh well, I still like the course and will play it few more times this year.

Whoa - I never check this sub-forum so I didn't know about this. Live near Rosemont and just ended a semi long distance relationship, so I have much more time for golf. Is it too late to get in?

Ok so since we're playing Mistwood in July for the outing I figure I'd go check it out. I literally shot the WORST round of my life at that course. I am a 16.9 handicap right now. Usually shooting low 90's and upper 80's a few times a summer. I swear if I broke 120 at that place I'd be lucky. I stopped counting at the 14 hole. If I missed a fairway, which I did most of the day, the ball was gone! I had a penalty on the majority of holes. Granted I wasn't swinging the club very well but this place didn't even give me a chance to recover.

 

I am now a LINKS style hater. We played from the blacks, second from the tips. For my game it just didn't seem fair.

 

I will still be at the outing but I might be hitting hybrids off the tee just to keep it in play.

Guess what - it worked... to a degree :pardon: I broke 90 from the back tees while limiting the penalty strokes to single digits :yahoo:

Good to know. I had at least 18 penalty shots due to lost balls. I really think hitting a long iron or hybrid off the tee, playing for bogey and then capitalizing on par opportunities, breaking 90 or at least 95 should be do-able.

The course itself is not bad and they have a decent range and pro shop. The mindset on that course is the key.

I'm sorry guys but I am unable to make it. There is a local qualifier that day in Ocean City, MD that I will be attending to futher increase my chances to get to Mesquite NV for the WLDC finals, so I can represent this great Golfwrx community to the best of my ability. There may be a visit to the Chicagoland area though sometime in the near future, so if anyone would be interested for a get together, I can get ahold of you when i'm in town.
