Is it a Scotty Cameron???

I have this old bullseye around 18 years old that is a Titleist - John Reuter Jr Design - with the initials SC in the middle of the sole of the club. Could this be an early Scotty Cameron??

If anyone has any info i would be very grateful

John Reuter Bullseye. Pre-cameron. Good putter, not much value.

I don't think that putter is 18 years old. I think it was made around 1994-96 somewhere in there. Scotty re-designed the older look around that time frame. Not worth a penny but is a nice putter. Yes its a Cameron.

i thought that this was during the first 1-2 years after cameron got to titleist and keep JR design with little changes - if any & just basically added his "SC" on them.. 2 years ago you could go to titleist's website & get all kinds of info on past items but since - they have very limited info on past items. i sold a mint one for $50 - and basically gave one away.

Yes, it is a design that Cameron had a hand in modifying, from John Reuter's original. That is what the "SC" stands for on the sole. The value is in the eyes of who is rolling with it. The poster who said $50 for a mint version is right on. They didn't get a whole lot of followers, but, heck, it's a Bullseye! If you have been playing golf for over 15 years, you have had this putter in your bag at one time or another. I have two on the wall, right now. One is used, but in great shape, the other is near mint with the plastic and red information label, still wrapped around the grip.

If your putter is treating you well, don't let it hear you question it's value. They are fickle instruments, as we all know.

Sweet sticks, these Cameron redesigns. Keep it, roll it and love it.

I checked with my mate who bought the putter and he was in the States Oct 94 to May 95 - seems much longer though to me!! I love this putter and dont see myself ever changing unless PING come out with a copy in the Redwood Series!!!

Sorry but Scotty had nothing to do with this putter. In this case the SC stands for "sand cast"

Titleist was trying to capture some of the mystery of the old bullseye success. The original bullseye putters were sand cast heads. Actually a common way of casting metal objects. So to hype up their new line of bullseyes, they added sc to the bottom meaning these were sand cast.

No, thats a Scotty. When he came to Titleist one of the first things they did was rework the Bullseye. They softened the lines a little, changed the weight a little, put a low gloss satin finish on it to reduce glare and gave it a new grip and put that SC on it.

I can remember when our Titleist rep came in the shop I was working in at the time to pump them up. The SC was a big marketing point we were supposed to stress to show people that it was a Cameron because they wanted that name pumped up for the Caliente and Gun Blue putters that were to come later.

I double-checked with one of the most reliable sources of Scotty Cameron info on the planet, and he gave the word that, Yes, this is a Scotty Cameron redesign of John Reuter's Bullseye. His changes were very subtle and it was a way to re-introduce the putters with a little flare.

Cool putters, for sure. I may have to put one in the bag for 18 holes and see if it reminds me of a younger time.

I read this article and it mentions Scotty enlarged the sweet spot, how do you do that on a bullseye.

If it is a Scotty redesign what did he do? It looks the exact same as the bullseye has for years. That is the whole idea behind the bullseye, a simple putter that works. Scotty doesn't like cast putter heads. That is why his cast copies of the ping ansers don't have his name on them. The only marking is Titleist. He made a few of these when he was first trying to get some tour players to try his putters. These are really the only cast putters he designed.

I think Scotty input on the bullseye line was more a marketing play by Titleist than any material changes he made to the bullseye line of putters.
